Uncle Harold was such an inspiration, respected, admired, & loved by so many. I will miss his captivating stories, vacations in the Outer Banks, holiday & family gatherings, & his infectious smile & laugh. I have lots of wonderful memories of Uncle Harold. My fondest memory is when he & his Barbershop friends surprised Saloma & I for Valentine’s Day 1 year ago at the request of my husband Tim. Harold & his buddies took the time to learn my favorite song “Hallelujah” to sing to us at Tim’s office & then presented us with roses afterwards. That was such a special & such a meaningful moment for me. I’m so grateful that he was a part of my life. Harold was truly one of the most amazing men I’d ever met. He will be missed dearly by our family & by all.

Aunt Saloma & family, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Always remember the wonderful times you had with your brother/father/uncle. He now rests in God's loving arms. But am sure for just a short time. Until he starts up Heaven's "Barbershop Quartet" and ballroom dances on Heaven's golden floors!

Though Harold was in the class a year ahead of mine in both elementary & high school, we grew up in the same tiny country community. His Mom was a loving and devoted school teacher to both of us, and Harold clearly inherited & cultivated her qualities throughout his life journey. My sympathy to All in your loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Harold's family, his children, Casey and Brian,
and his sister, Saloma Jane. Also, my children, Tim, Penny, Ginger and Tony, they have many happy memories of their Uncle.
One of my fondest memories of Harold was of our younger days, fishing and hunting. I recall carrying him on my shoulders across the river because we didn't know how deep the water was.
Harold, may you RIP, keep on singing and dancing. Hopefully we'll meet again on the other side of the river.

Tuesday, January 8, 2019
Harold and I were colleagues at NIST for many years. Harold, Steve Peterson, and I worked on many economics projects together during the 1970s and 80s, always with great camaraderie, and my first professional journal article and book were co-authored with Harold. He loved the outdoors and generously led many canoe adventures down the Potomac River, with my son, Bill, and I sometimes among the happy paddlers. Though I had not seen Harold in recent years, we spoke on the phone not long ago, but he spoke of his children and not of his illness. His loss comes as a profound shock. Condolences to his family of whom he often spoke.

My sincere condolences to Harold's family and many friends. I had the privilege of attending 4 years of high school with Harold at Herndon High School. Although we lost contact after graduation, I remember Harold as a close friend, a good student, and a talented musician. He and I were honored to be chosen from our class to attend Boy's State. My prayer is that GOD will provide the strength and comfort you may need now. GOD bless you all..

I grieve the loss of Harold. We were best friends for 65 years and recently talked. Memorable times include Herndon High School, dates and parties, work at the pool, marriages, 70th birthday, and family visits. Most celebrated were adventures in the 49 Oldsmobile and dances at the Great Falls Grange Hall. I am very sad for Bryan, Cassie, and Saloma Jane. I would enjoy hearing from Harold's friends and family. R.I.P. Harold.

The Magnusons send their deepest condolences to the Marshall family. Harold was going to teach us how to dance. I will always remember his spirited description of his "dance moves" at B pool. We're shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our fellow singer and dear friend, Harold Marshall. I'll especially miss him as the lead singer in the Last Minute Quartet, whose signature song and instigation for being was the song Java Jive which Harold especially liked and brought to the chorus' attention. As president of the chorus I will very much miss Harold serving as our secretary. His excellence in preparing accurate, timely, detailed and well-written minutes made my job ever so much easier and truly kept the chorus together through several annual shows and years of lower membership than today. Harold was always friendly and usually smiling with kind words to say - hard on problems but easy on people. I always thought he sang better than he thought he did.
Rest in Peace dear friend; gone too soon.

Harold always made me feel welcome at all family gatherings. I tried to always seek him out for a conversation which was always matter-of-fact yet warm and kind. I was always amazed at the many activities he enjoyed, and how he strived to be successful with every hobby he enjoyed.
I think what I will always remember about Harold first and foremost, was how much he loved and cared for his children. He will be greatly missed...

I have so many wonderful memories of Mr. Marshall. With every single memory I can only recall how warm, caring, and unbelievably accepting he was of me. From the very first time I met him he showed a genuine interest in me as a person. He warmly invited me into his home and would sit with me giving me his full attention. When I was applying to law school, Mr. Marshall was so invested in me and my future that he graciously volunteered to edit my application essay. His input and insight was invaluable and I credit him for my acceptance into law school. Even after years of not seeing Mr. Marshall, whenever our paths crossed it was like meeting an old friend, we reconnected so effortlessly as if no time had passed. I truly value every single wisdom he shared with me, from home buying, to principles of economics, to the best way to effectively captive a reader with your words.
Thank you Mr. Marshall for everything. Thank you for being an amazing and inspiring man and father, there's no doubt that you've left a mark on my life and this world.
