Obituary of Joy Lorraine Walker

Joy Lorraine Walker, 72, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. For 15 months, she battled cancer with grace and dignity. She died at home, peacefully and with family.

Joy is survived by her husband, Joseph Walker; three sons, Andrew Walker and his wife Jenny of Hickory, North Carolina, Gregory Walker and his wife Sophie of Leesburg, Virginia, and Timothy Walker and his wife Melissa of Arlington, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Katie, Ethan, Evelyn, Grace, Janie, Kirsten, and Isla; two brothers, Allan Fjordbotten and his wife Nancy of Ashburn, Virginia, and Lee Fjordbotten and his wife Beverly of Ashburn, Virginia; and one niece and four nephews.

 

Born on April 26, 1946, in Edmonton, Canada, Joy was the daughter of the late Alf and Helene Fjordbotten. She was predeceased by her infant brother Dale. She grew up in Camrose, Alberta, but lived most of her life in the Washington, DC, area with her parents, husband, sons, and grandchildren.

 

Well suited to her name, Joy found great happiness in life and in turn brought it to others. She will be remembered for her smile and laughter, her unconditional love and dedication to family and friends, and her devotion to God.

 

A memorial service will be held January 24, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5500 River Road, Bethesda, Maryland.
