Obituary of Gabriel Jesus Alarcon

Gabriel Jesus (Gabe) Alarcon Benavides, 65, of Sterling VA, passed away on January 12, 2019.

Visitation will be held at Adams Green Funeral Home on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm. A service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Donna Leahy officiating.

Gabe was born in Santiago, Chile to Rosamel Alarcon Tapia and Clotilde Benavides Salamanca on May 31, 1953. In his youth he moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the late 1970s he moved to Washington, DC.

He worked as an auto body technician for more than forty years, at Koons Ford, Cherner Lincoln Mercury, Prestige, Brown’s, Honda, and Sterling Collision, to name a few. He enjoyed playing soccer, watching soccer and coaching soccer. He enjoyed many forms of racing including cycling, motorcycle, Formula 1, Indy, NASCAR, and for a time, the Pinewood Derby. He enjoyed barbecuing and making pan amasado. He also enjoyed playing pool and was a proud member of the American Poolplayers Association.

Gabriel is survived by his daughter Gabriella and son-in-law Matthew of Las Vegas, Nevada, his son Mario and daughter-in-law Jenny of Sterling, Virginia, his sister Filomena of Santiago, Chile, his brother David of Woodbridge, Virginia, his brother Hector of Easton, Maryland, his grandsons Marcelo and Antonio of Sterling, Virginia, his dear nephews and nieces in Chile and the USA, and his longtime girlfriend Madeleine Parsons of Sterling, Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his father Rosamel, his mother Clotilde, his sister Marta, his sister Juana, his brother Perfecto, and his wife Carmen.
