Obituary of Deanna Mae Fortkort

Deanna M. Fortkort, a retired legal administrator who managed the law firm of Wickwire, Gavin, P.C. for 25 years, died October 7 th in her home in Vienna, Virginia. Mrs. Fortkort, 70, had lung cancer. Mrs. Fortkort attended the University of Virginia and American University, and received a Master's of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. She was a Certified Legal Administrator, and served as president of the Fairfax chapter of the American Legal Administrators. She was later elected to the National Board of Directors of the A.L.A. Mrs. Fortkort was appointed to the Board of Trustees for St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston. She edited the 50+ Club's newsletter, and was a Mass lector. She worked actively in charities for the homeless. Mrs. Fortkort is survived by her husband of 50 years, Judge Thomas Fortkort, 19 th Judicial Circuit of Virginia (ret.), a daughter, Mary Brancaccio of Maplewood, New Jersey, three sons, Michael Fortkort of Oak Hill, Virginia, Dr. Peter Fortkort of Somerville, South Carolina, John Fortkort of Austin, Texas, a daughter-in-law, Lori Fortkort of Lincolnton, North Carolina and 15 grandchildren. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Oblates Mission in Haiti, in care of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, Virginia.
