Catherine "Kit" Fraser passed away on April 2nd, 2011 at Reston Hospital in Reston, Virginia. She was born in Plainfield, NJ on June 28th, 1963, the daughter of the William J Fraser and Barbara M Hamilton. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Steven Stewart; brothers, William and Timothy Fraser; sister, Sarah Fraser; and her mother Barbara. Many of Kit's greatest childhood memories involved her family trips to Maine and the time spend near the sea. As an adult, she spent the majority of her life in Virginia Beach, where she continued this close association and joy of all things nautical. Lighthouses, sea glass, sea shells, and walks on the beach were several of her loves. Professionally, Kit utilized her BS degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University in a position as Special Agent with the U.S. Government for 24 years. She took great pride in her accomplishments and was honored in 1995 as the national Special Agent of the Year for the U.S. Defense Investigative Service. Kit demonstrated overwhelming spirit of adventure and zest for living th at was appreciated by all of those whose life she touched. She also asked that her devotion and dedication to the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots be celebrated and remembered each season. Additionally, she had great passion for flowers and the outdoors. For this reason, a memorial fund in support of the Norfolk Botanical Gardens has been established. In remembrance of Kit, those that wish may make contributions to: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, VA 23518, www.norfolkbotanicalgarden.org A small memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, May 1st in the Norfolk Botanical Garden. Those that wish to attend should arrive no later than 1:00pm in the Visitor's Center to board the tram for the Bristow Butterfly Garden.
