Obituary of Weldon Higgs

Weldon Higgs, Sr., age 78 of Ashburn, VA died August 9, 2007 at INOVA Loudoun Hospital. He was a retired Senior master Sergeant with the United States Air Force for 20 years and worked in private industry for 20 years.
Mr. Higgs was born in Rumsey, KY on February 14, 1929 to the late Sarah Welborn Higgs and Harlan Morgan Higgs. He joined the Air Force in 1946 and served as a radio Operator in the Philippines and Japan and later worked in radar maintenance until he retired from Andrews Air Force Base in 1966. After his retirement Weldon received a B.A. degree from the University of Maryland in Business Administration in January, 1972. Mr. Higgs is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 58 years; five children, Karen Brito of Stephens City, VA, Weldon Higgs, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, Linda Burgess of Potomac Falls, VA, Keith Higgs of Ashburn, VA and Shari Melton of Magnolia, DE; a twin brother, Welborn Higgs of Mt. Airy, MD; five grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15 th from 6-8pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 16 th at 10:30am at Guilford Baptist Church, 1001 Ruritan Circle, Sterling, VA 20164. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 31 st at 11am at Arlington National Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Capital Hospice, 6565 Arlington Blvd., Suite 501, Falls Church, VA 22042 or the American Diabetes Association, 1211 Connecticut Ave, Suite 501, Washington, DC 20036
