Roger T. James, age 64, a retired Senior Systems Analyst with Science Applications International corporation (SAIC) in McLean, VA died from complications related to Frontal Temporal Dementia and ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) at home in on Saturday, April 17, 2010. Born at Fort Meade, MD and raised in Brockton, MA he lived in Portsmouth, RI before moving to Sterling, VA in 1987. Roger served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, for which he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal. Roger earned a BA from Merrimack College, an MA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a BS from Salve Regina University. An avid golfer, Roger was a member of the Algonkian Regional Park Golf Club. Roger was the beloved husband of 41 years of Mary Ellen James, loving and devoted father of Kara Grichtmeier of Leesburg, VA, Brian James of Christiansburg, VA, proud grandfather of Katherine and Andrew Grichtmeier, brother of Robert James of Brockton, MA, Ellen Mara of Tarpan Springs, FL and Phyllis Bingham of Wolcott, CT. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 21 st from 10am to 11am at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 46833 Harry Byrd Hwy, Sterling, VA, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will immediately follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA. Arrangements by Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, VA ( www.adamsgreen.com ).
