Dorothy Evelyn Douthitt Kavanaugh, age 93, of Stone Ridge, Virginia, passed away at home on October 31, 2011 after a long struggle with heart disease. Born in Gest, Kentucky on October 16, 1918, she was a housewife, farmer and cook at Pleasureville Elementary School and Henry county Middle School, where she was also the cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Gest United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Jinel Oller Hess and her husband Gregory of Stone Ridge, VA; three grandchildren, Lawrence Bombay of Sterling, VA; Amanda Bombay of Okemos, MI; and Zachary Bombay of Stone Ridge, VA; three great-grandchildren: Christopher, Isabella and Annalise; her brother, William Porter Douthitt, Jr. of Frankfort, Kentucky and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved dog Tony. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Porter Douthitt, Sr. and Nannie Belle Chisholm Douthitt Kelley; four sisters, Nellie Kathleen Douthitt, Mildred Douthitt Jeffries, Geneva Gail Kelley Glenn and Betty Louise Kelley Hammond and her husband, Robert Morris Kavanaugh.
