Obituary of Randy Burr

Everett Randolph "Randy" Burr of Herndon, Virginia passed away January 27, 2019 at the age of 73. Randy was born October 23, 1945 to the late Everett Hunter Burr and Annie Mae (King) Burr, life-long residents of the Herndon area.

When Randy was 17 years old, he went to barber school,  earned his license and went on to compete on the state level. Later,  Randy proudly earned his teaching instructors certificate as a master barber. He married Doris (Andrews) Burr Guy and although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained life-long friends.

Randy started Lake Anne Hair Design on the lake in the late 1970's and became a neighborhood fixture waiting to strike up a conversation or watch any tennis-match on TV. He, a true optimist, was always genuinely willing to help others in any way he could.

Randy enjoyed the ocean, playing tennis, and Monday breakfasts with his late friend and mentor James Boyer. He loved food of all kinds, laughing and making others happy. He would say,  “Mornings when the sun is shining and the birds are singing makes you happy you’re alive.”

He is survived by his son,  Cullen Clark Burr of Manassas, Virginia, and a step daughter, Jennifer Williams Raimondo of Pasadena, Maryland. Preceding him in death are his brother Harold Burr and sister Margaret Burr Proffitt. He will be missed greatly by many nephews and nieces, great and even great-great nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind  many friends who loved him including his long term companion Diane Black and her son.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, February 4th, 2019 at Adams Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Virginia 20170.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 at Adams-Green Funeral Home followed by interment at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 831 Drainesville Road, Herndon, Virginia 20170.
