I knew Larry from both Sallie Mae and Freddie Mac. We’d bump into each other or have lunch and talk about what was going on with work, our families, and life in general. So sorry to hear that he is gone.

I would like to extend condolences on behalf of my wife and I. Larry and I went fishing several times down on the Potomac River around National Airport years ago. I recall how much joy fishing brought him even after being in a boat for several hours at a time without getting even one nibble...a true outdoorsman! RIP my friend...

Larry reminded me a lot of my own family also with West Virginia roots. Love yourself and your family first. Smile, be kind, and listen. Life isn't about the stuff you acquire but the love you give and receive. When it came to problems to solve, approach it with perseverance, simplicity and collaboration when needed. No problem is too big! Most of all keep it as simple as possible. Dare to try new approaches, think outside the box. Seek out others who can teach you, never stop learning. When it came to helping others, take time to listen first, repeat what was heard and explain that which is unclear, be patient. He challenged others to be better and lead by example. Thank you Larry, you were a wonderful mentor and friend. Your optimism and love of life will be missed. Thank you for the gift of your time to make me and others who knew you better people.

I still remember working with Larry so many years ago in McLean, VA. He was such a kind and funny person and a bright light in a group full of tough personalities. It was such a pleasant surprise to encounter Leah years later and work with her also. I still remember Leah telling me how Larry described me to her. His voice saying “She looks like Hailey Barry” still rings in my head. He was such a sweetheart and we will miss him greatly. Rest In Peace dear Larry. My most heartfelt condolences to Leah and your family. Love Erica

The same disease that took my dad and an aunt has taken Larry. He was a wonderful human being with a lovely family. As I recall there were 28 of us cousins on my dad's side. When each of my parents died, Larry drove to Richmond and videotaped the services for my brother who lives an all day plane ride and a 6 hour drive after that, away. My brother chose to spend his time with them while they were in hospice care rather than make that journey for a service. Larry made it possible for him to view the services at a later time. He was a great guy and will be missed. My deepest condolences to his amazing wife and all those who share in the sorrow of his loss. Rest in peace, Larry. Love and God's grace be with you.

Larry was an excellent programmer and co-worker. He could do more in one line of code than most of us could do in a whole program and he was always positive and
level-headed about work. It was a pleasure working with him.
Larry was also a friend. I am so glad I knew him.
