Vita, Ryan, Nicole, and all family members,
Today is the day to celebrate Joy's life and purpose on this earth. Even though Ken and I met your Mom only once it was a memorable moment we will always remember and reflect on with smiles. I can tell she brought such 'joy' in your lives and gave you the foundations for love and service for others though this simple time together. We laughed together with casual conversation after the awkwardness of a first meeting dissolved. I knew that had we lived closer we would become good friends sharing the love of good books, travel, and of course Italian food. Joy became a 2nd parent and support to Ryan as he was so far from home. He would tell us all the special times he shared holidays with you and the graciousness of gifts she shared with Ryan as he became a homeowner. We will always be grateful for her support. Although far away, we will always be there for you and Nicole - in thought, prayer, and as a helping hand.

I'm incredibly sad and sorry for the Jernigan and Florio families. Because I was in middle and high school with Vita, I/my family was so lucky to know Joy. She was the only Mom of my friends that was so welcoming and supportive. I'm pretty sure she was the one that got me to finally dance in public while we would BBQ at the Florio house in Bradley Farms. I know for a fact, it was the 1988 song by EU called "Doing Da Butt!" Thank you Joy! Much love to the families!

I am so sorry for your loss of Joy. I grew up with her in Tullahoma going to school and church with Joy and her family. Joy's name fit her to a tee. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a friend to all. She was always a beautiful girl, but her heart was what made her beautiful. Please know that I grieve with all of you over her sudden passing. My Sympathy to the family, Kyle Bills

To Joy’s family and close friends, I pray that our God provides you comfort during the days, weeks and months ahead. Joy was truly a joy to all of us who had the privilege of calling her friend.
Though time and miles separated us after graduating from THS, she was often in our thoughts, mine especially. When Facebook came about I was thrilled to reconnect with her and loved rekindling our friendship.
Her beauty, fun-loving spirit and infectious laughter will be sorely missed.
God bless,
Dennis

Joy and my sister Emily were good friends in High School abd spent the night with each other along with Cindy Tucker, Susan Lightner and others. I was the young brat that use to give them girls heck while at my house. And its funny that Jody and I became best friends in High School and remain best friends today.
Joy was the sweet one to me always and i had a crush on her so i went eady on her. To this day i will say Joy Jernigan was one of the most beautiful girls i have ever seen. She didnt need all that make-up dhe was just a naturally beautiful woman. Whenever she came home to visit i always made it a point to go over to Jody's or Bobby his Dad to see Joy. Jody, you and i have already spoken but to Mike, Lori and Marty, my thoughts are with you and i pray Gods peace will comfort you during this time. I love you all, you are family to me.

I am weeping as I write this. I am so very sad. I will miss her quick sense of humor and so much more. Joy loved her family and her Tennessee roots. The lone comfort is that Joy is back in the arms of Jesus and celebrating her reunion with her mother, Ray, my mom, and so many others. The world is a sadder place without you, dear friend.
