Obituary of Otto Tikhei Yu
Otto Tikhei Yu went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, June 21st, 2019 in Reston, Virginia. He is in a place with no more tears, no more pain and suffering after having fought many months against colon cancer.
He was born in Hong Kong. The son of Ding Ping Yu and the late Lai Ping Young. He is survived by his wife Kam Yu and their daughter Alison Yu. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Yu, her husband Eric Wu, and their daughter Grace Wu.
He worked as a software engineer and always supported his family extremely well in all aspects. He studied at both Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he met some of his closest friends for life and also studied at Binghamton University where he met his wife.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 13th at 3pm in a memorial service at Chantilly Bible Church in Virginia where he participated actively and humbly for a couple decades. He will later be buried next to his mother whom he loved very much at All Souls Catholic Cemetery in Maryland.
Otto was a strong spiritual leader in our family, a wonderful husband, great father, a detailed planner, loving brother and uncle, a son who was always thinking of his parents, caring son-in-law, and a friend who sees the real you. He loved fun activities, good food, his cars, enjoying his favorite sports, and most of all spending time with his family. “He would always say that nothing is perfect except for God. Otto was also a very forgiving person. He never stopped reminding us to always be thankful, be joyful and to have faith and hope.”
