I have never seen Lane nor have I know him. The reason that I write this is in fact about his little sister Reille Heil. I remember the day my older sister broke me the news that someone at her school past away. I didn’t know how to feel for I hadn’t known Lane. My sister would later go on to state that it was Reille’s older brother. After this I thought of how much pain she must have been in and how much she must have “needed a hug”. When I saw her later that week I went up to her and gave my condolences. I said to her “I am so sorry for your loss I am sure that he was a great brother”. Reille would go on to say “Thank you” and “It’s alright.” I walked away after talking to her not sure what else to say. Looking back on it I really wish that I could’ve done more to help out Reillie. All her friends had no idea what she was going through and I didn’t fully understand her pain either. I want to end my this by saying that I am so sorry of the loss of Lane and I can’t fathom how much pain his family is going through. I wish you all the best wishes and that we will keep him close in our memories and especially in our hearts❤️.

Lane was once my best friend. He was very smart, I was a year older than him and yet he was still my algebra tutor. I didn’t mind though because he made me laugh like no other. He checked up on me when I didn’t even need checking up on. I would help him with some of his own personal things when he needed someone. We were there for one another. But as time went by we slowly parted ways. I wish I could tell you all my beautiful and funny memories about him. But it’s all I have left of him. I am deeply sorry for all to those who have lost him, especially his family. And I’m also sorry to Lane because I should’ve been a better friend and stayed. Even though it’s been months now I still think about him everyday.

My morning was brighter every other day last year when I saw Lane walk into the gym and over to squad one for PE. His smile and fun spirit filled the room and I’m thankful I had the chance to know and learn from him. It was an honor meeting Lane, his innocent smile and gentle soul lit up a room. His 2016 class picture sits at Zara's desk, we are very sad about his sudden death. Our deepest and sincere condolences for his family, may God bless his soul and gives his parents peace and comfort.
