Ciarán Rook posted a condolence
Monday, December 16, 2019
I’m Ciarán, Mimi’s grandson in Ireland.
Mimi was a lovely grandmother, she would always take charge and stay independent. She was very thoughtful and always thought of us when she saw something we might enjoy. Her company was always wanted and we never felt like saying goodbye when we would leave her home. I want to say thank you Mimi for flying us over last July to go and see all of you in person for the first time in seven years, it was perfect timing and we will miss you.

Sadbh here, Mimi’s granddaughter from Ireland. Upon hearing of Mimi’s passing, I was of course devastated, but also incredibly grateful for a wonderful grandmother who kept close contact with both me and Ciarán despite our distance. Her generousity in providing us the trip to America in July has now proven to be more valuable than we originally anticipated, but will be closely held in our minds and hearts enduringly. I am so grateful that Mimi never felt like a stranger to us, her character will always be remembered.

I'm Rosemary, David's sister in law from Ireland. The first thing I remember about Libby is her warm smile when I met her in my parents home in Blarney. I could see my parents were completely relaxed in Libby's company. She seemed to know how to make people feel at ease. She was so interesting to talk to and when a group of us decided to go to a local hotel to hear some traditional music, Libby was so much fun, she sang along and made the evening so happy and special. It was a day I will never forget. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to meet such a lovely, caring lady. I was very saddened to hear of Libby's passing. Heaven will be a better place now that Libby is there with those who have gone before her. May she rest in peace

I'm John Lee from Ireland,
I remember the first time I met Libby was when she visited Blarney with her friend to see her grandson Ciaran, who was a new baby. She took a great interest in the history and culture of Ireland. She was full of energy and enthusiasm, telling me stories of her home in America and places she had visited on her travels. I found her very easy Company and we were sorry to see her leave when her holiday was over. I looked forward to seeing her again. She was a beautiful lady. I was very sad to hear of Libby's passing. May she rest in peace

From Trish and Ray
So very sorry to hear of Libby's passing. We always looked forward to her trips to Ireland where she was a marvelous contributor to every social occasion.
One particularly fond memory is of a camping trip to Harper's ferry in 2002. Ray and I were visiting Brid and Dave with our sons, Dylan and Pearse. We were very warmly welcomed by Libby and all of Dave's family. The memory of that holiday is one we will treasure forever and Libby's justifiable love and pride in her famuly was very apparent. She will be missed.

Diarmuid here, Brids brother in Ireland.
I just want to tip my hat to Libby on her passing. We only got to meet on a handful of occasions but she made an impression. Libby treated me with what I can only describe as a healthy level of suspicion. Maybe it was the difference in our stature but like a terrier circling a hound I got the sense that she was taking my measure. I thought I might survive but would sustain serious injury in the affray!!
I really want to acknowledge what a great grandmother she was to Sadbh and Ciaran. She took on the challenges of distance and time with admirable determination to forge a great relationship with them. She played an important and fulsome part in their lives. I know they will miss her greatly.
My condolences to all of you
May she rest in peace.

I first met Libby in 1999 when I began dating David. For Libby, it was all about family.Over the years she often made the long drive to Culpeper to babysit for us and even travelled to Ireland to attend Ciaran's christening in 2004. - I will always appreciate and remember her for that.My big Irish family instantly fell in love with her and thoroughly enjoyed her visit to Blarney, her contributions to our music sessions and her larger than life personality. On hearing of her passing, their genuine sadness was very touching. - I hope she knew how much she was loved by her extended family in Ireland. Libby was a generous and adoring mother and grandmother and we loved her dearly. Rest in peace Mimi x x x

I first met my sister Libby when I was in elementary school. I was so excited to meet and know my new sister. We became instant friends and family. When I went back to school we had show and tell day. I got to tell that I had a new sister and that I was an aunt to David and Bruce. I always had fun when I went to visit them in both San Antonio and Houston. Also had many visits in Virginia. We shared the love of putting puzzles together and loved to play games. She was a strong woman and I loved her very much and will miss her terribly. Growing up with all three sons was fun although we lived far apart and seeing each other was rare, we didn't miss a beat when we did get together. We always had fun.
