Obituary of Kay Cross

Kay Cross passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, Virginia at the age of 78.  Born Sandra Kay Klinke on March 12, 1941 in Amarillo, Texas to Carl and Mary Louise (Brands) Klinke. Kay, as she was known, grew up in Amarillo but lived in many places as a military wife and eventually settled in Ashburn, Virginia. Kay was an active and enthusiastic volunteer throughout her life and embraced many causes. She worked for many years at the Admiral’s Club at American Airlines until her retirement.

She is survived by her loving husband Ivo; son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Brenda; and three beloved grandchildren, Sean, Elise, and Sophie; brothers Carl (Nancy) and Larry (Deb); and a host of cherished nieces and nephews. Kay is predeceased in death by her brother Fred.

We are beside ourselves with heartache and grief at the sudden loss of Kay: wife, mother, sister, Granny, and Auntie Kay.  She was a wonderful example of love, affection, comfort, strength, wisdom, warmth, kindness, service to others, compassion, and faith. She loved fiercely, openly, and unconditionally. We will always be grateful for the profound impact and enrichment she gave to our lives.  We pray that the Lord will Bless her and Keep her, while comforting our hearts, uplifting our spirits and soothing our sorrows.

A viewing will be held at ADAMS-GREEN Funeral Home located at 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Virginia on Thursday, January 16th from 6-8 PM.  A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 17th at 2:00pm at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church located at 46833 Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling, Virginia.
