Ed, I want to thank you so much for all the things you tried to teach me in life and the experiences we shared together. I remember back to the early years before Bev and I were married when you tried to teach me how to drive a nail. As hard as you tried, I still have a hard time to this day driving that nail straight without bending it. I also remember turning your truck into a hornet extermination vehicle when you drove us up next to that hornet's nest hanging off the eve of your shed and I stuck those poles duct-taped together out the window that was barely cracked so I could knock the nest down without getting stung. Another time I cut all those cedar trees off your front fence row and we piled them high and lit them on fire. Boy was that fire hot and man did those flames shoot high into the air. That’s when we looked up and realized it might not have been such a good idea to light that fire under the power lines heading to the house. One piece of advice you gave me was to enjoy life while you are young because life will creep up on you and one day you will be looking back and wondering where all the years have gone. How right you were because now I am older than you when you spoke those words of wisdom to me and how right you were. Ed, I have to say there are so many fun times we have shared together and I appreciate all the wisdom and Christian teachings you tried to impart on me throughout the years. I think of the movie "It’s a Wonderful Life" and how much you have touched me over all these years.
Love Forever,
John

Granddaddy...only my Granddaddy could laugh the way you did. And your smile always touched your eyes. You grew the biggest cucumbers in Madison and made the best tomato gravy. Your voice was soothing when you said the blessing. You made jokes about three of my feet and poets. You gave me dimes to rub your head. You played the guitar in Ruckersville and I wished I knew how to play the way you did. I wish you knew how often you popped in my head or showed up in my dreams but I never told you that. Forever in my heart ❤

We love you Daddy and will always cherish the times that we were together. There are so many good memories I’d like to share, but they would fill a book. Your never lost your love for fun and joking. We always enjoyed talking about the good old days. The stories never end. You’ve been an awesome Dad.

It was just a couple weeks ago that I didnt want to tell you goodbye but instead I told you I would see soon & that I loved you very much. You will always hold a special place in my heart. You brought my daddy here to give me life & now you are both together again. You have a warm, gentle heart. I love you, go rest high on that mountain Grandaddy.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. I hope you know my prayers have been with you. I wish I would have made a point to spend more time with you but I hope that my love has always been known in absence of my presence.

I love you so much, Grandaddy. I miss you very much. I’m thankful for all the times we’ve shared together - it seems like it was never enough, but the times we had created memories that I will forever be grateful for. I’ll miss your stories, your wisdom, your jokes, your company, and your kindness and love. You always made us feel loved. I appreciate everything about you.
Love Always,
David

We love you Daddy. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and teaching us all about life. Thank you for showing us what sacrifice is all about and always offering advice. Thank you for teaching us to appreciate the small things in life and to always look up to God in difficult times. Thanks you for bringing so much laughter and being patient with us when we "messed up". Most of all, thank you for making sure that we followed God's path so that someday we can be with you and Mama, Margaret, David and all of our loved ones that have gone on before us.
