On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Yezmari Michelle Cuevas-Gillis, was called to be with our Heavenly Father.

Yezmari was born on October 15, 1999 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.  She was Yezabeth Cuevas and Markus Gillis firstborn child. Yezmari spent her earliest years in the Tidewater area of Virginia where her mother and father served in the Navy.  When her mother was later stationed at the Pentagon, she moved to Northern Virginia where she completed her education at Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA. She continued on to complete college courses at Northern Virginia Community College and had plans to continue her matriculation at Norfolk State University in the fall of 2020.  She planned to pursue medicine and to become a doctor.

Yezmari was beautiful, vivacious and full of life.  She was a joy to be around.  Whenever she entered a room, it became brighter, full of life and excitement. Her smile would light up any room and warm any heart. She was a free spirit who loved life.  She loved traveling, shopping for the latest fashion and make-up.  She had plans to see the world and leave her impact everywhere she went.

The world lost a bright shining star when Yezmari passed away.  She is survived by her mother-Yezabeth Cuevas, father-Markus Gillis, step-mother-Madeleine Gillis, brothers and sisters-Ajani Cuevas-Gillis, Jared Henley, Naomi Gillis, and Alani Perez, grandmothers - Nereyda O’farril, Sonja Dobbins-Sutton, and Evangeline Benthin, grandfathers- Roberto L. Cuevas, Michael Gillis, and Raymond Benthin, great-grandmother-Hazel Gillis, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins from Puerto Rico to New York to North Carolina to Pennsylvania.

If you are able to please send her flowers and thank you!
