Obituary of Harriet O McGuire

McGuire, Harriet O., passed away peacefully on Saturday March 21, 2020 at the age of 88 in her residence at The Johnson Center of Falcon’s Landing in Potomac Falls, VA. Harriet was born on March 28, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Samuel and Erna (Brunzel) McIntyre. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John J. McGuire. John and Harriet spent most of their fifty-six years of married life in Rhode Island where they raised their family. After raising six children, Harriet worked as a Real Estate Sales Agent and Broker for Century 21 Realty in Wakefield, RI.

Harriet is survived by three sons and three daughters: Timothy McGuire and his wife Beth Myers, Thomas McGuire and his wife Colleen Handrigan, James McGuire, Maureen Goodwin and her husband Peter, Helen Lewis and her husband Jeff, and Eileen Slovak and her husband Nicholas. Harriet is also survived by her sister Doris McIntyre of New Jersey, and was sister to the late Samuel McIntyre of Florida, and the late Ellen (McIntyre) Bente of Long Island, New York.

Harriet moved to Virginia five years ago to be near her daughter Eileen who helped to care for her. Harriet adored her ten grandchildren, and her great-grand daughter. She loved to laugh and sing and was well known for her great sense of humor and vocals at the Johnson Center. Harriet will be honored in a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Hope Catholic church in Potomac Falls, VA on March 28, 2020 at 12:00pm. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Harriet’s final resting place will be the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
