Obituary of Evelyn Gulbransen Miller

Evelyn G. Miller died peacefully on August 4 at the age of 96. She was born on February 14, 1924 and always enjoyed celebrating Valentine’s Day and her birthday. She was born in New York to Norwegian parents, Thora and Emil Gulbransen. Her brother Gil was born 9 years later. They lived in New York. Evelyn met David Miller while working at J.C. Penney. They married in 1943 and had two children, Walter and Lynne. The family moved to Tenafly, New Jersey in 1960. In recent years, Evelyn lived with her daughter Lynne in Great Falls, Virginia and most recently, at Arbor Terrace Fairfax. Evelyn remained close to her Norwegian roots, visiting Norway and connecting with relatives, especially with her cousin Mary Wilhelmsen and family.  David died in 2000, but they had 57 wonderful years together. She is survived by her brother Gil Brandsen, son Walter Miller (daughter-in-law Jana), daughter Lynne Miller and two grandchildren, Lauren Miller and Jack Metelski. The family is grateful for the help of an amazing caregiver, Lisha Lucas. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at a later date, when it is safe to travel and gather.
