Words cannot express how sorry I am for the loss of Ms Despain. She will be missed dearly. Especially for a her smile, caring demeanor, even with everything she has going on she would still ask you about how your day is going and also about your family. It was an honor to get to know her the past couple of years.

My sincerest condolences. I work for Aetna in Richmond and helped train Ms. Dori. We shared many venting moments and we kept in touch even after her departure. I literally just texted her last Tuesday to say Hi. I prolonged as much as I could not to see that this is why my buddy didn't respond. I know her as a fiesty ole thang and from our texts she put up a good fight. Rest in peace my friend!

Kerri, Jenny and Rachel,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Dori's passing. I met Dori while working at CHS. I have such great memories of a woman who was so kind and humble. We shared many conversations every Monday morning about her weekend with Mason and my weekend with my grandson. Dori and I prayed together during her husband's illness and then later my brother's illness. She was just a great person and I will never forget her smile and her kindness. She was the best co-worker ever and I will miss her.

Dear Kerri, Jenny and Rachel,
I am so sorry to learn of Dori’s passing. My heart goes out to you.
I worked with Dori at the Dolley Madison Library and at the new Herndon Fortnightly Library where we were the Children’s Services Dept. I have happy memories of planning programs and book talking with Dori. We would visit every grade of every elementary school in Herndon in a week’s time, talking ourselves hoarse. No sound systems, no Power Point, just our voices. Dori enthralled the kids with her lively book talks.
Her zeal for fighting for the rights of all FCPL employees made her widely respected by her colleagues. Dori was passionate about her work but even more passionate about her daughters and grandchildren. There was no question that you came first in her life.
Dori and I stayed in touch off and on over the years, and she was always full of news about her girls and the grandkids. I’m so thankful I was able to visit with her when I came to Virginia last November. Seeing her and other FCPL friends brought back many happy memories. It was a privilege to call Dori my colleague and a joy to call her my friend. I will miss her.
With love from
Phyllis Spencer
