In my early childhood, my family had many fun vacations spending time with our cousin Jim and his family at their beach house in Ocean City, New Jersey.
One time there, we played a game of miniature golf together and Jim won a ticket for a free game. He gave me the ticket. Although I never got the chance to play the free game, I kept the ticket in my wallet for years as a memento of Jim's generosity.
On another occasion, while out in their boat, Jim was water skiing off of the back. The wooden boat showed it's age when a chunk of the transom, which the ski rope was attached to, broke right out of the back of the boat. We had to circle back and fish Jim out of the water.
One time in the early 60's, my Dad gave Jim a ride in his two seater airplane at the old Manassas Airport. Jim and Dad were a little heavy for that small plane. So when the plane took off, it barely cleared the electric wires at the end of the runway. We laughed about that for years.
These are just a few of the many great memories I have of being with Jim when we were young. I will surely miss him. May God comfort our hearts concerning our loss of Jim.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Jim's family and loved ones. We are blessed to have you as friends and neighbors and thank you for the countless ways you have helped us through the years. May you find a measure of comfort in these verses:
"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth...soared and swung high in the sun-lit silence...put out my hand and touched the face of God." (Excerpts from 'High Flight', John Gillespie Magee, Jr)
And God took Jim's hand and gently led him home. "Well done, my good and faithful servant...Enter into the joy of your lord. (Matt. 25:23 NKJ)
You are in our hearts and prayers,
The Nakovich Family

I knew Jim for many years as a fellow volunteer at the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Jim was always ebullient…a real pleasure to work alongside. We had many enjoyable discussions about…well, everything. The Tuesday Blue Crew at the museum will sorely miss him.
