Hello Bill’s Family,
I’m Mary Ann Wangemann and I used to see Bill at morning Mass and oftentimes we would head to Bob Evan or Anita’s for breakfast. I called the nursing home today to thank him for his service and learned of his passing. I wanted to let you know two things. He always talked about how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. He shared many family memories with me over the years. Secondly the first thing that drew me to Bill was him always taking his picture of your Mom to Holy Communion every morning. That struck me as very touching in that he wanted her to receive the Eucharist with him every day. Of course I loved his sense of humor too— he always asked me to marry him with the promise that he would cook and clean while I was at the office and that it would be several years before I would have to change his diaper! A proposal I’m not sure how I was able to turn down! He was a grandfather figure to my daughter and in fact my daughter Lorraine and I represented him in HI for Billy’s change of command ceremony because he felt so bad he couldn’t make the trip. Anyway my love to you all and a smile will always come to my face when I think of your Dad and all the work he did for God in this world—I rest assured he will follow suit and be a stinker in heaven!

Poppi, I am thankful I was able to spend more time with you over the past year and for all of the fond memories growing up, even the short time we were roommates! Finding comfort in knowing you are at peace and with your one and only, Grandma. We love you!

Celebrating the big 9-0 with my great friend. I will always remember the conversations, stories, laughs, breakfasts and the 6am car rides to Saturday morning TMIY. Thank you Billy for being a wonderful friend to me. I'll never ever forget you.
