Obituary of Emilie R. McDaniel

Emilie Robb McDaniel age 93 died of congestive heart failure at Loudoun County Hospital Sunday March 1, 2009. She is survived by 4 children Thomas McDaniel, John McDaniel, Susan Coryell and Sally Rankin. 9 grandchildren Ted Coryell, Robb McDaniel, Katy Jeffries, Scott McDaniel, Craig McDaniel, Kerry Riley, Heidi Williams, Matthew seely and Derek Coryell. Her husband Noble Ashby McDaniel died in 1994. they had eleven grandchildren. Born in Washington D.C. November 21, 1916, Emilie was a lifelong resident of Northern VA. She graduated from Herndon High in 1933 and from Strayer College. She worked as a school secretary at Lake Anne Elementary in Reston for many years. An active community worker , she helped establish the original Herndon Swimming Pool in 1956. She served in countless PTA offices, taught Sunday School at the Presbyterian church in Herndon and was a member of the Herndon Fortnightly Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid bridge player. Services will be held at the Herndon United Methodist Church Friday March 6 at 1 p.m..
