Thomas Dolley, 63, of Potomac Falls, VA, passed away suddenly, Sunday, October 11, 2020.
Tom was born January 17, 1957 in Washington DC. He graduated from South Hampton College and received a bachelor’s degree in Geology. He was married to Anne Dolley on June 1 2003.
Tom loved to share his love of sports, and astronomy and all things science with his son, Connor. He absolutely adored his family.
Tom’s other passion was scuba diving. A certified Dive Control Specialist, he loved traveling to remote destinations of the world with his dive buddy, Dana, exploring the beautiful marine environment.
He (aka “Track”) also loved music, and he and his dearest friends, Bob (Ramone), Gary (Heck) and Dean (Deno) formed a band.
We loved Tom’s sense of humor, and his great stories.
Tom had completed his 40 years of service to the Federal Government award in May. His Federal service was marked by exceptional performance and dedication. He began his career at the Defense Mapping Agency, later moved to the U.S. Bureau of Mines, and eventually to the U.S. Geological Survey. He brought in unusual insights to his work as a commodity specialist after serving in many functions that comprise the mission. He was a recognized expert in the industrial sand and gravel and dimension stone industries, earning the respect of his colleagues and was a credit to the USGS and U.S. Department of Interior.
We will look for you among the stars. You are always with us in our hearts, and we will miss you beyond measure.
He was survived by his son Connor, wife, Anne, his nephew Patrick Hough, and many other cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Constance and William Dolley, and his brother, Carl.
