Obituary of Dale Thomas Fletcher
Dale Thomas Fletcher 63 of Herndon, Va. died peacefully at home with family on Friday Nov. 27 2020 after a long battle with cancer.
Dale was born on January 17, 1957 in Leesburg, Va. to Doris S. & Thomas J. Fletcher. He was a Class of 1976 graduate of Herndon High School and throughout his life, he worked many jobs. His first job was at a very young age working as a paper route carrier for the Washington Post along with his younger brother. Together, they delivered newspapers and collected their money by bicycle. Dale's last job was working for Hecht’s / Macy’s Department Stores and employed with them for over 30+ years.
Dale enjoyed many hobbies and was always reading. He was never without a book or magazine in his hand. Military books were his favorite. He loved fishing, playing computer & video games, building military models, and was a avid bird and raptors expert. He loved listening to various types of music from British rock, bluegrass to hair metal. His favorite sports were football & baseball. Dale also served as a volunteer for the Loudoun County Fire Dept. and was a member of various clubs for aerodynamics & gaming including the Loudoun County Aeromodelers Association.
Dale is survived by his father Thomas (Jack) Fletcher of Herndon; brother, Douglas D. Fletcher & family of Ashburn, Va. and sister Dawn F. with husband, Gregg Waters of Herndon, Va.
Burial was a private family service at Sterling Cemetery held on Wednesday Dec. 2, 2020.
