Obituary of Anahid Hagopian

Please share a memory of Anahid to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anahid (Ani) Hagopian passed away on March 3rd surrounded by her immediate family. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1944, the daughter of the late Stepan and Marie (Beuyukian) Tabibian. She attended the American University of Beirut before meeting her loving and adoring husband, Haig Hagopian and emigrating to the United States in 1968 where they made Wichita, KS their first American home. She worked for the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, fell in love with baseball and had her first child, Raffi, before moving to Lock Haven, PA where she had her daughter, Rita. Her family also lived in Vero Beach, FL; Orlando, FL where she worked for Disney; Toulouse, France; and her final home in Northern Virginia. She traveled the world, loved taking care of everyone she met, and treated everyone with grace and hospitality. She was the loudest cheerleader at all of her kids’ sports games, ever-caring and supportive of her husband’s dreams and ambitions, and in return he treated her as a Queen – cute, sweet, and as loving as newlyweds for 52 years. She adored her children grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and celebrated them every chance she had. “SIROV YEV SEROV.” (With love and with pleasure).

She meant so much to so many and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her loving and adoring husband of 52 years, Haig Hagopian and her two children, Raffi Hagopian and Rita (Hagopian) Deurdulian and her husband Krikor and their two daughters Arev and Stephanie (Northern Virginia); her sister Olympia Jebejian and her husband Shahe (NJ), her niece Maria Stepanian and husband Bryan and their children Robby and Arto (Connecticut) and nephew Sarkis Jebejian and wife Maral and their children Shahe and Katia (NJ). She was preceded in death by her brother Jivan Tabibian and will join him eternally in Khor Virap, Armenia. The family is accepting flowers for her viewing at 1PM and funeral service at 2PM on March 10th both at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church (4125 Fessenden St NW, Washington, DC 20016) or donations in her memory to FAR https://www.farusa.org/
