Obituary of Jennifer Lynn Berke

On March 31, 2021, Jennifer Lynn Berke died by suicide in Reston, Virginia at the age of 66.  

Jenni is survived by her mother Barbara, her son Andrew, her brothers Jonathan and Allan, her nephew Jeremy, and her nieces Elizabeth and Kristin. She was preceded in death by her father George.  

 Jenni was born on July 30, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Herndon High School in 1973 and went on to attend Radford College where she graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science. Jenni went back to graduate school twenty years later and received her Master of Education from Marymount University in 2001.

Jenni had an outgoing personality, mixing charm with wit. In High School she was an accomplished gymnast and cheerleader. She worked as a travel agent until several years after the birth of her son Andrew in 1990, followed by 16 years teaching in the Fairfax County Public School System. She enjoyed watching movies and TV shows with strong female characters and took pleasure in cooking delicious desserts for family and friends. Jenni loved to travel, with Hawaii her favorite place, followed closely by New York City.

Memorial services will be private. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
