When others worried about making a buck with their technical skills, Anil worried about helping others with his.
When others sought to "win" political discussions, Anil looked for truth and common ground.
Anil was truly a Renaissance man. He was full of drive, compassion, and love for his family.
Our deepest condolences Divya, Nash and Jay.

Sharing a few memories. (1) At a Diwali party many years ago, asking for tequila because he wanted to do shots, and being rather disappointed when I said I didn't have any (I was in a teetotal phase at the time). (2) We talked a lot about music - Thievery Corporation and Tom Petty, and he telling me about how he saw Tom Petty in Jacksonville before he became famous, and of course, Red Rocks (3) At one of the birthday parties years ago, probably when Nash was a 1st or 2nd grader, getting the kids together to ask and talk about books. He was of course doing "focus groups" before starting Big Universe!
Rest in peace, Anil. You will be missed.

Dear Diyva, Nash, and Jay- Words cannot express the sadness of the loss of Anil. Our families have known each other for so many years that I think of us as one family! Anil was our planner, idea man, and official photographer! I will miss seeing his smiling face and discussing the hot topic of the day! His legacy will live on through you all and in our hearts always!

Through Big Universe, Anil took a chance on me, giving me a start in both Education Technology and technical customer support. It’s a career path that changed my life for the better and which I have continued on. He may have been the most demanding supervisor in my work history, in the tradition of tech entrepreneurs who look to have their team exceed what they may have thought possible. Even so, I enjoyed working with him and always felt I knew where I stood.
Though he was my boss, I also felt that at the end of the day we were friends too. He took pride in his organization and the team and advocated for us. We seemed to find things in common, not the least of which was an entrepreneurial spirit and broad viewpoint. In addition to both of us being drawn to tech, Anil had some prior DJ experience and a dry and sometimes off-kilter sense of humor. We even shared some of the same health challenges and made fun of them together.
It was great getting to finally meet Anil after having worked together virtually for some time. I’m committed to keeping part of Anil’s spirit with me as I move forward in life. Maybe I can make it to Red Rocks Park in Colorado some day - he talked about it very fondly and wanted to bring the company there to get together and have some fun. While he stepped off our timeline and onto an eternal one far too early, I already can’t wait to meet Anil again.

Also thinking of the poetry of Psalm 23 in relation to what was said about Anil's passing:
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me

Anil is my brother Paul’s brother-in-law. Over the years ,as I would see and speak to Anil at family events ,I immediately recognized him as a true gentleman. While I admit I am not as familiar with Hindi Culture and Tradition as I’d like to be ,he ALWAYS made me feel WELCOME,and would patiently explain what was happening.. At secular Family Get-Togethers ,I sought him out and looked forward to ‘catching up’ . It seems to me the World has lost one of its Angels, one who ,no doubt, was here to make us ALL a little better. ...All My Hopes ,with Candles Lit in my Heart for You All.... Bart Lancia ☀️

Dear Divya, Nash, Jay and extended family. I am so deeply saddened to hear of Anil’s passing. I met Anil in Boston in the late 1980’s and was immediately struck by his passion for technology and his deep curiousity about the world generally. We became good friends. Anil was a groomsman at my wedding in 1989. We ended up in the DC area together and spent many happy times together as young families. I was always impressed with Anil’s drive and hard work ethics. He was never the type to just do a job- it had to be a passion. How I admired that in him! I remember many conversations around starting Big Universe and his desire to educate kids around the world. Anil’s imagination was as big as any I have seen. We laughed a lot together too. He was easy to get to know and made everyone feel special. As the kids grew and life changes came we didn’t see each other as often anymore but I followed him through Divya on Facebook and knew how much he loved her and the you boys. A few months ago just before I moved to Florida we talked briefly and made plans to see each other sometime soon. I wish we had done it then in that moment. I feel lucky and blessed to have known Anil. Thank you for sharing him with me and the world. Much love - Holly Ford Lewis

Not many people these days have the intellect or the vision or just that wisdom to see the world in a new light, and make a true difference. But Anil Jijaji was one such man. Tech genius, nature lover, a true family man, foodie, it’s an endless list.
I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of special occasions with Anil and Divya last year. And what was remarkable that even in those tough times, he had the ability to make everything feel memorable. We will all truly miss you.

Dear Divya, Nash, Jay and siblings: please accept my deepest condolences. Anil was a good friend, and I always looked forward talking to him when he came to pick up Nash after piano lessons about history, environment, technology and innovation, children's books and new writers, especially when he was developing his BIG UNIVERSE in 2007. But he was happiest when he talked about his children's education and accomplishment. he was a proud Father, he supported and nurtured his children's interests, and wanted them to have open and creative minds. Lately, we frequently run into each other in Runnymede Park, where he loved to walk with his sons. I saw him a few weeks ago at the bid rocks. Can't believe he is gone...RIP Anil! You will be missed dear Friend! Sending love and sympathy to his family!

I will always fondly remember the time we spent together. Anil introduced me to his favorite local spots where we spent many hours in conversation while enjoying coffee or going on a hike. We talked about life stories, family, music, travel, food, technology and professional experiences. Anil's accomplishments were impressive, but I was left mostly inspired by his humility, honesty and desire to experience all that life had to offer. My condolences to Divya, Nash, Jay and Anil’s entire family for your loss. Rest in peace Anil.

I met Anil at the Reston Starbucks back in 2011. I quickly realized what a passionate technologist Anil was. Anil was thinking about remote working (common themes today due to COVID) back in 2011! As years went by, we were fortunate to get to know him better as an entrepreneur, innovator, conversationalist - all topics beyond technology and, above all, as a friend! We will miss Anil greatly. Our deepest condolences to Divya, Nash, and Jay.
