On behalf of the Park View High School Class of 1983, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Messitt family on the loss of Toby. Toby served as Vice-President of our class and provided dedication, talent and spirit to all of our activities. He helped to create lasting memories that carry us to this day. In his later years, Toby faced his illness with an outward badge of courage that would make anyone proud, and we will miss him. Sincerely and with our deepest sympathy, Gerald M. Hampton President Park View High School Class of 1983

Messitt family, please know that you are in my prayers as you face life without Toby. He was such a vivacious person. I remember Toby as Albert in Bye Bye Birdie where Janet Dye and I learned to faint on cue. I also remember him darting through the halls of Park View making it a great place to be. He will be missed, even by those of us who had not seen him in a while. My condolences to one and all who loved him.

It is not possible to recall all the students I have taught but one I never forgot was Toby Messitt. He was a delight. Bright and creative, he would light up the classroom and entertain all with his incredible sense of humor. I had not seen him since his college days but I understand he continued to entertain all who knew him. What an incredible loss to his family, his friends and his community. I know he will be missed but I also know when we think of him we will smile.

I am so sorry for your loss, and I pray that good memories will sustain you. The last time I saw Toby was in Houston Texas for the School Food Association Annual Conference, he was there as a representative for USDA. I will always remember him as a great friend, a wonderful performer, and someone I was glad to call friend.
