Dear Chadwick Family,
I would like to open this note by saying how shocking it was to be informed of Matt’s passing. I first met Matt in the summer of 2017, during the awkward transition from Elementary school to Middle school. Anxiously seeking to play my first season of tackle football, I found it odd how peaceful it was being on the field, Matt watching from the sideline. Through all the tackling, yelling, sweating, and panting, I always felt at ease with the presence of Matt.
Looking back at the videos of him entertaining our young, energetic, and squeaky-voiced team, it’s now that I find myself reminiscing on how much of a good guy Matt was. He was the type of guy who would never complain, always pushed us to become better versions of ourselves, and loved leaving time to be goofy.
Once again, I’m incredibly sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I coached Matthew for a couple of seasons in Vienna youth basketball. Matthew was one of the more memorable athletes out of the many young athletes I ever coached. He had such a unique personality and we had a great understanding as a coach and athlete. On practice days he was the biggest 'cut up' on the team always joking around and goofing around. But come game day you would not want any other teammate on your team, he was so fiercely competitive and so determined. As a coach you learn as much from the athletes as they learn from you and I was truly blessed to have had the opportunity learn how to be a better person and coach from Matthew and to share wonderful memories with Mathew that I will forever cherish. “Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, Faith looks up” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
