Margaret O’Neill, 79, of Great Falls, VA, passed away on Wednesday, June 16th, 2021.

Born on May 18th, 1942 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Dominic Aluisi Sr. and the late Margaret Aluisi.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dominic Aluisi Jr.

Margaret grew up in Maryland, and attended Notre Dame Girls Academy in Washington, DC. Following high school, she attended Maryview School of Nursing in Portsmouth, VA, graduating in 1963. Her earliest years as a nurse were spent at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD, in addition to serving as a missionary nurse in Guatemala.

In 1969 she joined the Air National Guard, attending the School of Aerospace Medicine on Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, where she received Flight Nurse Advanced Individual Training, achieving the rank of Captain.

After a brief return to Holy Cross, she moved to Germany with her husband John, who was working for the US Army Corps of Engineers. During their four year residence in Europe, Margaret spent time working at the US Army Hospital Clinic in Frankfurt. Upon their return to the states, she resumed her work at Holy Cross Hospital where she spent the remainder of her career.

Her other passions in life were for cooking and catering, eventually opening Aluisi’s Restaurant in Great Falls, VA, alongside her brother Dominic. After retiring from nursing, she was a devoted stay-at-home mother and wife, raising her two sons Jonathan and Timothy. A true animal lover, she took immense joy in caring for her dogs, fostering and adopting many along the way. From her earliest days as a child through the end of her life, she also loved spending time at the family beach cottage in Scotland Beach, Maryland, which was originally built by her grandfather.

A dedicated follower of Christ, she was a regular attender of Mclean Bible Church for the last twenty years. She was a fierce prayer warrior and advocate on behalf of others. Anyone who knew her knew she loved the Lord, and she was always ready to tell others about Him.

She is survived by her husband John O’Neill, her sons Jonathan and Timothy O’Neill, and her grandchildren Hudson, Kenley, Camden, Hallie, Hunter, and Callie.
