Obituary of Joseph Barnett Paul, II

Joseph Barnett Paul ll, age 72, of Ashburn, VA passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021.

Born May 16, 1949, in Leesburg, VA, son of the late John and Betty Paul. He is survived by his loving wife Ginny; his loving daughter Amanda Heller (Doug); his adoring grandchildren Celia(11), Davis(8).

He is predeceased by his son, Michael Barnett Paul and his daughter-in-law, Erica Gough Paul.

Joe grew up in Leesburg, VA. He was a proud graduate of Wesley College, where he and Ginny met. He continued his education at Northwood University in Midland, MI, where he received his Automotive Business degree and made lifelong friends, whom he cherished deeply.

Joe and Ginny were married on June 12, 1971, celebrating 50 years this summer. Joe began working as a young man in his family's car dealership, Paul Brothers Oldsmobile in Washington, DC, eventually taking ownership for 30+ years. In 1993, Joe moved Paul Brothers to Herndon, VA, becoming Paul Brothers Subaru of Herndon. Joe quickly became an active community member through Rotary and various town events that he enjoyed immensely. Joe and Ginny raised their family in Reston, VA, neighboring Herndon, which allowed Joe to be present for his children's many school and athletic events, for which he was incredibly proud of.

Joe happily retired in 2008, in time to enjoy both of his children's weddings that same year. He spent his retirement traveling, being with close friends and family, and enjoying his two beloved grandchildren. Joe was incredibly proud of his family, he cherished his friendships, and he held tight to his Faith in our Lord Jesus. He lived by: Faith, Family, Friends. Always in that order.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 1:00pm at Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park Street NE, Vienna, VA 22180.
