Obituary of Christopher Aaron Roberts

Christopher Aaron Roberts, 49, of Sterling, VA, passed away at Fairfax Hospital on September 8, 2021 at 5:30am. 

Born on February 21, 1972 at Fairfax Hospital, he was the son of Nancy Pond and the late Bert Roberts Jr.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his Uncle Bill Sharp, his Aunt Corinne Brooks, his Uncle Bill Mitchell, his paternal aunts and uncles, and his grandparents.

Chris attended Park View High School, attained an Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Virginia Community College, and studied Chemistry at George Mason University. Throughout his life he also studied foreign languages, music, religious texts, and astronomy. He recently became certified by MIT as a Master trainer through their App Inventor program.

Chris shared his love of learning with others by serving as a mentor in his workplace, through guitar instruction, and Engineering and Math tutoring. He served as a Regional Education Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, working with the group since 2003. He also found work as an architectural draftsman, Thin Film technician, and Chemist.

Chris was a Christian who shared his love of God by providing sermons on occasion, performing as part of worship bands, and being a member of several Christian congregations. He enjoyed being with his friends, playing Go, painting, riding his bike, playing board games, and making music.

Chris is survived by his wife Jill Roberts, his son Cody Connolly, his mother Nancy Pond, and his brothers Byron Roberts and Doug Roberts.

The family will receive friends for a visitation and viewing from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Ox Hill Baptist Church.  The family requests Hawaiian attire to celebrate his life.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Ox Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Bradley Boberg officiating. Burial will follow at Sterling Cemetery.
