Obituary of Torbjorg Astrid Donoch
Torbjorg A. Donoch, 82 of Reston Va went home to be with the Lord after an impressive battle with heart failure.
Toby graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls Mn in 1956. Toby loved her time in Fergus and often told joyful stories of her experiences at Hillcrest. Toby’s granddaughter also graduated from Hillcrest 61 years later following in her Mormor’s footsteps.
After high school, Toby attended Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School which served her well in her long career as CEO Administrative assistant. Toby’s organizational skills live on in her daughter and 3 grand children.
Toby grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island NY spending one elementary school year in Mosvold Norway with her Mother and two sisters while her Father was at sea.
Toby was a life long giver not only to family, but friends, neighbors, service to the church, as well as election pole volunteer for many years with her husband Bill. Toby was a joyful, generous, humble Christian who loved to garden, bake and never forgot to send birthday cards to everyone she touched.
In later years Toby and her husband enjoyed traveling the world with Sister Janet and her husband Erik. Toby & Bill also loved their social group and exercise pals at The Scotch Plains Fanwood YMCA. More recently Toby connected to many new friends with her Purls (crochet) and Bunko (cards) groups at The Stratford Condominium Reston Va where she lived the last 2 1/2 years of her life. Toby’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren that she treasured and loved to stalk (in a good way) on fb & IG to learn of all their adventures and celebrate their accomplishments.
Toby is preceded in death by her parents Oskar and Tonette Gahre. She is survived by her husband Bill Donoch of 53 years, daughter Linda Kasulis, grandchildren Kyle & wife Morgan Kasulis, Krister Kasulis,Julie Anna & husband Bryson Wong. Toby is also survived by her two loving sisters Janet & husband Erik Ambjor and Edith Gahre.
A private online service for friends & family will take place Wednesday Nov 17th 8pm.
