Joe was the original designated driver. We would pile into his baby blue Chevy Nova and head to the Cap Centre numerous times in the mid 70’s. After attending a Caps game, a movie and then a Bullets game all in the same day Joe would get us all home safely. Thank you Joe; think I’ll go listen to some Steely Dan. Ricky don’t lose that number………

I met Joe through his brother Mike and we became fast friends. We roomed together for a short period of time but that time produced so so many memories, all good. Town house parties, Hozart and Fway, the cats. We did a lot of things together. Joe's love of sports...Hockey, basketball, baseball, football, Box Lacrosse-"Arrows",those being the professional. Golf and bowling on the personal participation and softball.
Hilarious stories from golf outings, bowling leagues, Bullets games, and Arrows contests can and will forever be told. I remember Joe commenting about the weekly fee for a bowling league that we were about to join in the mid 70's. The fee was $25.00 per week, pretty steep for then. Joe rejected the idea of joining with "My name"s Burton, not Rockefeller!" Many many more memories, too much to list, but not to forget, as his friends will attest. Joe was one of the nicest guys you could ever want to meet, and one of the funniest to do things with.
I can say this about our friendship. From the time we met until the last time I saw him, we never a fight about anything. That, my friends, is friendship, a friendship that I have and will continues to cherish. Rest in Peace Joey. I won't forget.

Joe and other friends pictured here drove from Virginia to Rochester, NY for my wedding in 1981. I’ll always be grateful for his friendship, sense of humor and loyalty through the years. He and I were housemates at 3 different locations before I got married, but remained friends through all these years, some 43 years in all. God bless Joe. I will miss him greatly.
