Obituary of William Sean Sperry
William Sean Sperry, best known as Sean, of Ashburn, VA passed away January 17th, 2022, peacefully in his home, surrounded by family at 52 years old.
Sean was born June 4th, 1969 in Pocatello, ID to Judy Belnap Sperry and William Lon Sperry (Bill).
He grew up in Orem, UT where he met several life-long friends. He graduated from Orem High School and shortly after served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney, Australia. Sean loved his mission and often spoke fondly of his time there.
Sean met his sweetheart Nancy Fox Sperry the day he returned home from his mission. They were sealed for time and all eternity on August 16th, 1991 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Sean was a wonderful husband and truly understood the phrase, “happy wife, happy life.” Throughout their 30 years of marriage it was obvious how much Sean and Nancy loved each other.
Nothing meant more to Sean than family did and he was a wonderful spouse, father and grandfather. While he was never really a man of many words, his actions spoke clearly of how much his family meant to him and how much he loved his kids. One of his favorite pastimes was taking the family out shopping and to lunch on Saturday afternoons and he never passed up the opportunity to walk into the Vans store or through the Nationals/Capitals section of Dick’s Sporting Goods. He made sure that his grandson was well equipped with Vans and Nationals gear from the first time they met.
Sean passed down his love of music to his kids. He loved to share the new bands that he found with them and loved taking them to concerts as well as blasting music everywhere he went. He loved watching sports with his wife, kids, and a Diet Coke in hand. While Sean may have been relatively quiet he had a great sense of humor and kept everyone in good spirits. He liked to look at the positive side of life and was great at giving advice. He loved being a grandpa (or Papi to Braxton) and we are sure he is happily preparing those other little blessings to join us earth-side when the time is right.
Sean is survived by his loving wife Nancy and their children Sydney (Brock) Browning, Colin (Yuko) Sperry, and Taytum Sperry. He is also survived by his grandson Braxton as well as his mom Judy Sperry, dad William Sperry and his step-mother Marianne Sperry. Also his siblings Heidi Winn, Tiffany Day, Troy Sperry, JoDee Spanos as well as siblings Jason Findley, Jill Johnson, Brandon Sperry, and Andrea Morgan. He is preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides of the family.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for the many doctors and nurses that were a part of Sean’s cancer journey. They were truly blessings in our lives and we are grateful for the care he received while he was here.
