William Lee Warren

William Lee Warren, aged 56, died unexpectedly on January 19, 2022, in Herndon, Virginia.  William was born in San Antonio, Texas in May 1965.  He is survived by his wife, Wendy Barrett Warren; their three children: Megan E. Krill (husband, Jeffrey Krill), Bronwen R. Warren and Charles H. Warren; his granddaughter, Rhiannon Jane Krill; his father, Bruce H. Warren, M.D.; his siblings: Richard B. Warren, Mobi Warren, James L. Warren (wife, Margaret Warren) and Leslie Ann Barton (husband, Larry Barton); and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Jane Warren.

William served in the United States Marine Corps, was graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. and earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Texas at Austin.  He practiced law at Baker Botts LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP, was executive vice president and general counsel of GeoEye, Inc. and President of Mageq LLC, a consulting business focusing on strategic advice for companies.  William’s legal expertise was in general corporate law, including securities compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property and employment law for clients in high-technology businesses, including the satellite, electronics and communications industries.

William was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He supported both Wendy’s career and her passion for gardening, home schooled Charlie for several years, and attended as many of Megan’s and Bronwen’s athletic, dance, choral and theatrical events as possible.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, his interests were eclectic, ranging from history, the classics and opera, to conservative political thought and Second Amendment rights, to anime and Japanese rock groups.  He loved animals, particularly the family pets, enjoyed cooking, was a voracious reader, a style maven and a film aficionado, and had cultivated a significant presence on social media.

Flowers and condolences can be sent to the Warren family at their home in Herndon and to Megan in San Antonio.  Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to Pets for Patriots.
