Obituary of Rodney Caldwell Sasher
Rodney Caldwell “Ronnie” Sasher, 80, of Basye, Virginia, passed away on April 30, 2022 at his home in Basye, Virginia.
Ronnie was born in Washington, DC at the Columbia Hospital for Women to Bert Campbell Sasher and Elizabeth Spencer Sasher on August 8, 1941. He went to Herndon High School and graduated in 1960. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 25 years of service and before that was the owner of Herndon Auto Parts in Herndon, Virginia. Ronnie loved going to the beach and spending time with all of his family and long-time friends, especially with his wife, his children and grandchildren. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed doing home improvement projects. He was also an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen Blair Sasher of Basye, Virginia; his children Amy Sasher Cronin of New Market, Virginia and Rodney Campbell Sasher of Leesburg, Virginia; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Clifton Sasher; 5 grandchildren, Karly Grey Sasher, Catherine Elizabeth Cronin, Caden James Sasher, William Kenneth Cronin, Jr. and Cassandra Nicole Cronin; his brother William “Bodie” Sasher; his sisters-in-law Ginger Blair Seal of Bedford, Virginia, Jeanette Blair DeKraft of Bristow, Virginia, Peggy Blair of Gretna, Virginia, Deby Sasher of Merritt Island, Florida and Katie Sasher of Little Rock, Arkansas; his brothers-in-law Robert Blair of Gretna, Virginia, Donald Ralph of Bedford, Virginia, Wayne Updike of Lake Norman, North Carolina and James S Martin of Fairfax, Virginia; 17 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Bert Campbell Sasher and Elizabeth Spencer Sasher and his brother Robert Kent Sasher.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the IPF Foundation.
The family will receive visitors at Floris United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
