Eric Michael Kelley

(August 4, 1992 - April 30, 2022)

Eric Michael Kelley, loving son and brother, passed away at the age of 29 in Manassas, VA on Saturday, April 30. Eric was born August 4th, 1992 in Reston, Virginia. He lived in Ashburn, Virginia until moving to Manassas, Virginia after college graduation.

In 2015, Eric obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.  He was employed as a system engineer at Progeny Systems in Manassas where he worked on cybersecurity systems to protect our country’s service women and men.

Eric had a unique sense of humor and remarkably dry wit. He was a passionate, fun loving competitor in many areas including ping-pong, gaming with friends, board games, go karts and mini-golf to name a few. Eric was a gentle guy who loved his friends and was known for his raised eyebrow delivery, his mischievous grin and curious, analytical nature.  He also loved the ocean, playing and composing music on the piano, reading science fiction and any and all travel adventures.

A life long learner, he often shared his musings with his friends and family.  Eric was passionate about social justice for all and, in the past, served others through Crossroads United Methodist Church missions including REACH Camp, VBS at New Community Church in DC and making sandwiches for the unhoused in DC.

He is loved and survived by his parents, Brian and Nancy (Thompson) Kelley of Ashburn, VA. Brother Andrew Kelley of Raleigh, NC. and many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.  And his feline family members, Tux and Goldie.

Eric is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents – Sis (Drobka) Thompson and Ray Thompson and his paternal grandparents – Violet (Jones) Kelley and Jeremiah “Tucker” Kelley, his aunt Nancy Kelley Viola and uncle Eugene Viola, and his uncle Paul Forst.

A memorial for Eric will be held on Saturday, May 14^th, (visitation at 1pm and service at 2pm) at Adams Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA.

His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eric's memory to any cause that is close to your heart.
