Obituary of John Robinson Whitten, Jr.

John Robinson Whitten Jr, 59, of Ashburn, VA passed away on July 20, 2022 in Ashburn, VA.  A graveside service will be held at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA on July 27, 2022 at 11:00 am. 

John was born in Richmond, Virginia to Kathi and John Whitten Sr. on February 4, 1963.  John is survived by his wife, Brenda Whitten, his son, Maxwell Whitten of Ashburn, VA.  He is also survived by his parents, Kathi and John Whitten, brother Scott Whitten, and sister Mitzi Hess. He is preceded in death by his son, Mason Whitten. 

John had an endless love of learning and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with all.  From an early age, he found passions in model trains, photography, music, reading, and computers.  

We can use many words to describe John – he was creative, intelligent, clever, inventive, curious.  Even though sometimes a contrarian, John had a big heart and loved to share knowledge and fun with his family through tinkering on inventions, photography, playing music, and learning new things.   John was always ready for a good conversation over any topic.

John’s greatest gifts to all of us were his two sons who inherited the best parts of him.
