I'm so saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I worked with him for a few years at the Nationals and he always brightened my day. We'll definitely miss seeing him around Nationals Park.

I remember Mr. Paul and his extreme knowledge of Sports and his collection of sports memorabilia. I would attend the shows out Tysons Corner and different shows in VA. I wanted to tell him about the show I went to out Silver Spring.

Q: How did you meet Paul?
A: Had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Paul at both Audi Field and Nationals Park. Paul was great to talk Nationals baseball with and I will miss hearing his clear-eyed perspectives on the game he loved.

Louise, Paul, James, and Family,
We were sorry to hear about Paul. He was an inspiration to anyone who knew him. In spite of his health problems these last years he kept doing am much as he could to enjoy life. He has worked the Nationals games and other things get the most out of life. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
We are sorry we will not be able to be at his memorial service, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you all.
With hugs and love,
Chuck and Chap

I am sorry about the loss. We were coworkers at Audi Field. We would eat team meals before we worked. I will miss him very much.

Paul was one of the most hard working individuals I had ever met. He had such a passion for what he did, and was incredibly kind to everyone. The family of DC United players and season ticket members would ask for him by name when they didn’t see him. He left a long lasting impression on everyone.

I first met Paul around 8-9 years ago as he worked the area of Nats Park (3B side) where we usually sit. I overheard him talking about card collecting and struck up my own conversation with him about it. I was a huge collector as a pre-teen/teenager and in middle age was getting back into the hobby. Paul invited me to join him at the next monthly card show in Annandale. I've attended about 75 percent of those shows ever since. So Paul gave me two gifts. First, he did a fantastic job as game day staff at the ballpark. This included keeping certain ticketholders in line. We sit close to the field and unfortunately our area sometimes attracts "fans" who think they can act like idiots. Paul didn't put up with nonsense for a second, including when the offender was quite a bit bigger or younger than him. My family and I thank him for that. Secondly, in inviting me to Annandale, he opened up a bridge back into collecting for me. Those shows have taken me back to my childhood. Inexpensive, with lots of good people, and a relaxing way to enjoy a Saturday or Sunday. I usually spent one or two hours sitting at Paul's table looking through the thousands of cards he had brought that day. I talked with him casually about the latest items he had picked up, the state of the Nationals, his work at Nats Park and Audi Field, his plans to open a card shop, and whatever else was on his mind. It was also fun to hear his conversations and negotiations with other attendees at the show. Similarly, I usually get to the ballpark early and if Paul was working my section we would chat and catch up for awhile before the place filled up. Paul was the classic "man of few words." But I could always tell he was glad to see me (as I was to see him). I'm really going to miss seeing him in both places. My family and I want his family to know how much he meant to us and so many other people. Rest in Peace my friend...

It was a privilege to grow up next door to the Sutaras in Burke. I'll always remember Mr. Sutara as a man with a work ethic stronger than iron. If he was awake, he was providing for his family. With rare breaks to see his teams play on TV, of course.
I miss those days, and I'll miss him, but I'll carry the memories and the lessons with me.
My love and prayers are with the Sutara family. Now and forever.

I met dear Paul in 2013 when I began in his zone at Nats ballpark. After my husband died later that year, he kind of took me under his wing. We went to Potomac Nationals games, enjoyed drinks and meals at Kilroys, Spartans and Unos talking about Nats Park, baseball, other sports, politics, and many other issues. Louise joined us for most of these get togethers sharing family news and photos. I visited him often during the last few months and he was upset to be missing card shows and not working at Nats Park or Audi Field. In our last conversation I said let’s go to a ballgame when you’re out of the hospital and he said yes!! I was so honored to have spent time with you and will miss your smile and devilish laugh so much. Love to your family.❤️

I had the honor of working with Paul at Nat's Park for close to 10 years. He trained me in his own style, which was grumpy to begin with. Over the years I enjoyed our time debating baseball and discussing baseball card. This season is not the same without him. I was lucky enough to have my last meeting with Paul over a beer and a shot at Walters across from the park.
RIP my friend,
Rick

It saddens me that my co-worker since 2019 and friend has passed away. I met Paul in 2019 he was such a great guy. He had such a unique laugh that made me laugh every time I heard him. After I discovered that we shared the same birth date I started calling him twin. He truly loved his wife. I am going to miss him dearly.
Twin I am going to miss you.

Q: How did you meet Paul?
A: I met Paul at Nats Park where we both worked. I believe we both started there in 2009. I enjoyed talking baseball or just talking about " life" with Paul.
He will surely be missed.

Q: What will you never forget about Paul?
A: I was ushering with Paul one game when he was hit in the head by a foul ball and was sent to the hospital for concussion protocol. He got and released to leave but had to get a taxi to go back to Nats Stadium for his car. He reported back to work but the supervisors thought he should go home - Paul was not happy —. There was several innings still to go in the game! Paul was a dedicated and stubborn baseball lover ! He always showed up for every single game (as far as I know) In heaven I believe Paul is not sitting in the stands watching some kind of baseball game - but actually trying to work the crowd and help someone find their seat and looking for where foul balls might land!
