RoseMarie Teresa (Mattox) Hailey was born May 19, 1964 in Boston Massachusetts to Bedford Mattox (deceased) and Charlotte Mattox. Although born in Boston, she shortly moved to Manhattan and then to The Bronx where she had her most fond childhood memories.

Having lived a life far too-short, RoseMarie (Rose/Rosie) is known for putting smiles on people’s faces and joy in their hearts. In the early morning on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 our super woman was called home.

RoseMarie grew up in Parkchester in The Bronx where she attended P.S. 106, JHS 127 and then attended Christopher Columbus High School. The friendships she made in elementary, middle school and high school are still very strong and relevant.  Rose was proud to represent The Bronx every chance she got. Anyone who knows Rose, knows that if you were around her there were going to be great music of all genres, lots of laughs, Starbucks; and you better be ready to play Spades and eat. Rose enjoyed all types of cuisines. Expressing her love for The Bronx, Rose became part of the Parkchester Reunion Committee where she enjoyed planning the Parkchester reunions with friends. Rose knew everyone. If someone went MIA, Rose was going to find them and make sure they were okay. She was the glue that kept everyone together. Rose was a friend, an advisor and a confidant to many.

She was also a true girl scout.  She would laugh and let you know they actually kicked her out because she got too old.  Additionally, RoseMarie was an avid dancer and teacher.  She loved dancing, but teaching dance was her passion.  She taught dance for many years at Vickie Sheer School of Dance in The Bronx, USDAN summer camp for the arts and dance schools in New Jersey.  She ran a fun, but no-nonsense class that led to students excelling.

RoseMarie graduated from Christopher Columbus High School and attended Queensboro College.  She started her career working at Arthur Andersen in the TRS group where she still has many friends that adore her.  It was there she met her future husband and love of her life, Sean, in 1995. From the time they met, it was a fairytale romance.  They would go to lunch almost every day, go to movies, take strolls in the park and go on Caribbean vacations.  They dated for several years before getting engaged on the beach in Puerto Rico.  Sean and RoseMarie married on September 23, 2000 in front of family and friends in The Bronx, NY. After a wonderful ceremony and celebration, they headed to Egypt for a once in a lifetime adventure.

Approximately 9 months later, Rose found her true calling as a mother.  In 2001, she gave birth to her beautiful baby girl with screams and lungs of fire.  Those loud cries have now turned into the most beautiful music.  Four years later, Rose gave birth to her handsome baby boy, Sean Jr.; her future doctor.  Rose was a mother bear.  She cared and protected her children.  When asked what she wanted her children to be, she would simply respond, “good people.”

RoseMarie leaves to cherish in her memory and continue her legacy with loving husband Sean; daughter Lauren; son Sean Jr.; mother Charlotte; sisters Angela (Julio), Renee, Terry; brothers Gary, Antwan; sisters in love Evangeline, Jevonne, mother in love Leola; uncles Paul, George; aunts Pat, Rita; nephews Aaron, Jordan, Dorian; niece Hailey and a host of additional cousins, friends and her family dog Roxie.
