I met Eric through Lisa and when they got together, the light and happiness they brought to each other's lives was obvious to anyone who knew them. As Lisa's friend, I was so happy and grateful she met him for the love and joy he brought to her. As I got to know him on his own I learned that the description of Eric as "a kind, gentle, reflective, and mindful human" could not be put any better.
Thanks for everything you brought to the world Eric - you will be missed!

It's difficult to put into words the loss and the impact you had on my life. You were the kind of friend who understood and accepted without judgment, who listened with genuine care, and who always knew how to bring a smile to my face. We laughed, we were silent, we had deep and trivial chats, we ran, you allowed me to walk when I was above my pace... and you talked me into crazy, amazing adventures. I cherished your friendship and will always feel I did not live up to it.
You possessed a remarkable spirit that radiated kindness and compassion. Your departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. Your voice still echoes in my mind, and will continue to guide me. I hope to be able to complete a 200 in your memory.
Though you may no longer be physically here, your spirit lives on in the memories we shared. I hope you have found endless mountains, lush forests, amazing downhills, rolling hills, soft pine needles, rocky, gnarly, technical trails to run on.
I am grateful for every moment we spent together. Thank you for being my friend.

Eric is the man I want to be when I grow up.
I have many memories of my time with Eric, from Team Z shenanigans to sagging or pacing on a remote trail somewhere. But my favorite memories are actually fairly early on in my friendship with him. Iwan, Eric, and I found in each other a mutual desire to unplug, to get lost in nature, to climb mountains for hours at a time. And while I wasn't half the runner they were, it was through those conversations that I really got to know the real spirit of Eric. He was a kind, gentle, generous soul with the heart of a lion. A lion who doesn't feel the need to roar to tell people he's a lion.
The day I heard of his passing I closed my laptop and went for a run on my favorite trail, just to be among trees and sunshine and reflect on my time with him. I think that's how he would've wanted me to celebrate his life.

I’ve been blessed with many great bosses and Eric was no exception to this rule. He was hard-working, compassionate, emphatic, and genuinely cared about his employees. He challenged us, mentored us, and most importantly- made it known that life was way more important than work. The most recent text I have from him said “keep doing great things! You add so much value wherever you go!” And I’ll forever be grateful for how much he encouraged and supported me to pursue my passions. I often think of him as an example of a great mentor and boss. Thinking of you Lisa- and sending all the doggy hugs to you. I hope you find some semblance of peace in knowing what an impact he had on others.

Eric was amazing. He and I were in a group visiting a job site in southern Arizona. We were told that it would be an easy walk. It just wasn’t. Eric took the lead as we all clambered over hills and into ravines. He was like a mountain goat. He was kind and helpful to those of us struggling in the back. We all survived, but I’ll always remember that trip.
