Obituary of Linda Marie Oliva
Linda M. Oliva died peacefully at her home in Oak Hill, Virginia on July 6, 2023. She was born on March 3, 1952, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, New Jersey to her parents Edward and Marie Fulginiti in a growing family consisting of eight children. Linda is predeceased by her parents and a child brother. She is survived by the love of her life, Michael Oliva, as well as five brothers and a sister.
Linda graduated from Bowie High School in 1970 and worked as a Legal Secretary for a number of prestigious legal groups in the Washington DC area. While attending a recording party, Linda met a young man from Long Island, New York and after a brief courtship were married on October 25, 1980, at St. Hugh’s Catholic Church in Greenbelt, Maryland and shared 42 wonderful and exciting years together.
Linda was an extremely talented woman who loved being with family and friends. Her desserts were always the center of attention, and she was renowned for her homemade cheesecake and biscotti cookies. She took great pleasure in creating individual and personalized birthday cards labeled “by Linda” as well as calendars using individual seasonal photos taken from past years. Linda loved holiday celebrations and hosting other social events as there was always room for a few more people at her table. She loved to laugh and enjoyed being with others and as a result, others wanted to be with her.
Linda’s devotion to the Catholic church remained steadfast throughout her life. Her generosity and kindness toward others were both many and diverse and included all living creatures. She always had compassion for the homeless and would frequently give money to those living on the streets.
A funeral mass will be held on July 15, 2023 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, Virginia at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Linda’s name to the St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Herndon, Virginia or the American Cancer Society.
