On behalf of the Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston, Rotary Satellite Club of Herndon-Reston, and their many members, past and present, and family and friends of Rotary, we extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Arthur Nachman during this difficult time. The sad news of our esteemed friend’s passing has left us all heartbroken. Arthur was an extraordinary individual whose contributions to the Rotary Club of Herndon were immeasurable. He was a Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow. As the 2012 Rotary Citizen of the Year, his dedication and generosity touched countless lives in our community. From supporting the Herndon High School Band, to actively participating in the monthly Rotary Satellite Club Food and Hygiene Drives at Arts Herndon, Arthur consistently made a positive impact on the lives of others.
Arthur’s passion for the arts and commitment to our Herndon community shone through his efforts in creating murals for the Arts Council and providing food and shoes for children in need. As an incredible businessman, he achieved great success and forged strong bonds of friendship.
Arthur's life was a testament to the vital principles of Rotary's 4-Way Test, and his mentorship and support for numerous club initiatives will forever be cherished. This significant loss deeply saddens us, and our thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful family. While Arthur may no longer be with us physically, his legacy will endure in the hearts and minds of all who know him. May the memories of his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication bring comfort and strength in the days ahead. May he rest in peace.

It is with deep respect and sympathy that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of our esteemed friend and fellow Rotarian, Arthur Nachman. As a past president of the Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston, I had the privilege of witnessing Arthur's unwavering commitment to serving the community, his family, friends, and his strong friendships with fellow Rotarians.
Arthur was truly larger than life, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His generous heart and dedication to making a positive impact in our community were evident in every endeavor he undertook. Whether it was through his involvement with the Rotary Club, the Herndon High School, Arts Herndon and more, Arthur's presence was a beacon of inspiration and generosity.
I fondly remember my teenage years spent browsing the shelves at Nachman's Department Store to purchase blue jeans and shirts. Nachman's store was a go to place and a cherished local establishment where Arthur's passion for community service and entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly. Walking across and hearing the sounds of its hardwood floors brought back memories of my own grandfather's bike shop, a testament to the powerful connections we forge through shared experiences.
During this difficult time, my thoughts are with Arthur's wife, beautiful family and friends. May you find strength and comfort in the memories you shared, the love he gave, and the positive impact he made in the lives of many.
Arthur Nachman will always be remembered with great fondness and respect in our hearts. Let us honor his memory by continuing his legacy of service and dedication to making the world a better place.
With deepest sympathy,
Jane Nash

What a loss to the Herndon community. Arthur was in my class at HHS, and was warm, kind, welcoming from the first day I met him. Even to the last time I saw him, he never failed to stop what he was doing, and give his complete attention when we happened to meet, and ask about me and the family, and share about his, and just catch up, genuinely. I considered him a dear part of the fabric of the Town, and my past, personally. My deepest condolences to all of the Nachman family.

So many of my memories of Herndon include the Nachman family. Arthur's parents, particularly his Mom, were friends with my parents. Back to school always meant clothes shopping at the store and Arthur and Howard seemed to always be there, even when they weren't working there. My favorite memory is Arthur and Howard joining us for youth group events at the Presbyterian church as Herndon was too small to support youth groups for each faith and our building had the biggest basement. My husband worked at the store for a short while during the early years of our marriage. Arthur always had a smile and cheerful greeting when we would run into each other around town. He was proud to call Herndon his hometown. He will be greatly missed.

I first met Arthur in the dormitory parking lot at Memphis State University back in 1975. He was working on his car so I walked over to see if I could help. We've been friends ever since. Arthur had so many great qualities. One of his best qualities was that he would tell it like it is. No soft-shoe routine when something was on his mind and I always liked that about him. He was generous to a fault with his friends and loyal to the end. I learned a lot from him over the years and I will always be grateful to have had his friendship. My deepest sympathy to Sharon, Elizabeth, Stuart, Howard, and his extended family.

Oh Sharon, Tom and I are so sorry to hear this news. What a force you and Arthur were in our lives at the Observer! He and Howard always had "something to say"! We have missed Herndon since we left in 2004, and nowadays we cannot travel at all. We count on the kids coming here. You'll be in our prayers during the difficult days ahead.

Have known Arthur all my life. His family business was the place to go for just about all my clothes for many years.
Arthur always had a smile, a greeting and a outstretched hand to shake.
Most of all he always asked "how is your mother doing".
His kindness will be greatly missed!
Sharon, Howard and family know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

I am pretty sure I I first met Arthur at the old Herndon Elementary School before the new one was built on Dranesville Road. He was such a bubbly little guy, always with a smile on his face, and he had a heart of gold. I remember going into his Family's Clothing Store, but I couldn't tell you what we bought. My heart goes out to his Family for his loss Dear Arthur, please rest in peace.

Arthur and I shared many great memories during band at Herndon High. I first met Arthur in grade 7 at the old Herdon High School and we became immediate friends. His bubbly personality was infectious and I remember sharing a seat next to him on many trips to marching band competitions. I am certain his contributions to the Herndon High School band will have a lasting positive effect on future musicians. My deepest sympathy to his wife and children.
