Nanci and I met at St. Annes in the Choir. At times we were the only members of the Alto section. We became great friends. We shared lunches and coffee together and talked about anything. We shared a love of animals and Nanci always shared stories about her beloved Dog. Unfortunately, we also shared medication stories and all too often compaired treatments we were going through. But we would always laugh if off. I will miss you, Nanci, my very dear friend.

I always remember Nanci and Michael (my cousin) coming to Vermont on many occasions to visit my mother Claire Pease and father Richard Pease. They would often stay at the Sinclair Inn B&B in Underhill, Vt. nearby. I remember especially Nanci’s warm smile and her interest in current events. Later I found out that we shared a love of photography. Unfortunately I didn’t get to know Nanci really well, and wish I had. Not until reading her obituary did I learn that she was raised by an independent deaf mother, which is important to me as I became deaf in one ear some years ago and have been studying and practicing ASL and deaf culture for a few years now.
I send my sympathies and prayers to Michael and all those who loved her and whose lives she touched. Peace be with you.

Aunt Nanci was an incredible person. An artist, mother, and an incredible aunt. To say I looked up to her would be an understatement. I saw her as an ideal. A sophisticated, intelligent, creative, fierce woman whom I always admired. Aunt Nanci's holiday parties were not to be missed. So many memories are of her Christmas Eve gatherings. Aunt Nanci did a lot to keep our families close. She was always there for me whenever I needed someone to talk to and I will be lost without her. May she Rest in Peace.

The loss of Nanci, a beacon of light who embodied selflessness, love, and kindness, is deeply felt. Her vivacious spirit radiated onto the Veterans she supported, bringing comfort and shelter to many. An inspirational mentor and guide in life's journey, her laughter and availability during periods of strife will remain cherished memories. As we bid adieu to this divine gift in our lives, heartfelt condolences and prayers are extended to Mike, her sister, daughter and granddaughter. Rest peacefully in paradise dear Nanci.

Nanci's memory evokes a picture of love, kindness laced with humor, and an exuberant spirit. Her presence laid foundation to my journey in the non-profit sector. An agile mind forged from intelligence and analytical thought birthed her passionate commitment to aiding homeless veterans. A true beacon of selflessness and faith-driven dedication, her barefooted orchestration within our office premises is missed dearly. The world has lost a remarkable soul; Nanci will be forever cherished as a 'True Jewel'.

I chose this photo of you laughing because it reminds me that there was a lot of laughter. From the time I was a young child and we would get fits of giggles that would drive others nuts. Or the times dinners would turn from meals into hours of laughter and stories (acted out by me). And then there was one of our all day escapes where we saw three movies in one day, switching theaters, laughing and eating junk the whole day.
When I was a child I thought your laughter hung the moon. From the time I can remember you were a force of nature. So strong, younger than the other mothers, independent, intelligent, and very beautiful. Above all, fierce. It’s hard to believe the fierceness is gone. There is a gaping hole. I will try to fill it with memories of your joy, your laughter, our fits of giggles. That is what I must remember. Rest in peace, Mom.

My dear, dear sister-in-law. I chose this photo because I hear your infectious laughter. Michael must have cracked one of his corny jokes. I miss you, but I promise I won’t ever browse a used book store or read another murder mystery without discussing it with you afterwards. When I visit Michael and Piper you are everywhere - the lovely interior with which you took such great care down through the years - the books, the artwork, your photos - the oversized chairs perfect for a Sunday afternoon read with a glass of white wine, as I caught you doing once. I’ve repeated the custom in my own home ever since. You are gone in some respects and I wish we had the old relationship back, but I am keeping the door to your life open and getting used to a new relationship that somehow exists in this unfathomable universe. Oh but I miss you so much. Love, Norine

Nanci was such a cool cat. She dedicated much of her life to public service and helping others. She loved photography and art, was a wonderful decorator, and knew how to graciously host delightful family gatherings. She was highly intelligent and highly opinionated, which can sometimes throw complications into those close, valued relationships. With that said, she was fiercely passionate about her family. When she felt you needed to know something, no matter how painful it might be to hear, she'd be one of the first to say it. While we didn't always agree with each other, there was never any doubt that we loved each other. She was never, ever boring. I pray she is reunited with her amazing mother and brother and surrounded with peace and love that she deserves. - Her loving niece, Melanie

Growing up with Nanci as my older sis, by only 10 1/2 months, we were close. I recall a few times as a youngster when I was being brutalized by my best friend, Nanci raced out of the house like a hawk or something, and slammed my buddy to the ground, and sent her home crying. No one in that neighborhood ever threatened me again. And of course, everyone liked her tons more, as she had the looks and personality. We went almost everywhere together, she shielded me, and I shielded her from unwanted suitors! We were four, alone in the world, but we always had each other! Many wonderful memories of holidays with little to share, but that closeness and love we had. I cannot express adequately just how much I will miss her!
