Kenneth “Ken” Gerald Feng, 74, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2023, in Reston, Virginia from a brain hemorrhage.
Ken was born on November 22, 1948, in Tianjin, China. His family immigrated to the United States in 1959 and settled in Los Angeles, California. Ken started his career as a Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles. He eventually got the opportunity to move to Washington, D.C. as a congressional investigator and continued to work in D.C. for the rest of his career. In his spare time, he was involved in Fairfax County Park Authority, Virginia Board of Juvenile Justice, Fairfax County Housing Authority, and most importantly Boy Scouts of America. When he had a little extra time in between serving his community, he loved cruising around the Blue Ridge Mountains in his Porsche 911 with the Potomac Porsche Club and tinkering around in his garage building something new for scout camp, Camp Snyder.
He was married to Alice Feng for 33 years. They share two kids, Timothy and Katherine. He loved exploring the world with friends and family. Most recently he had hiked the Camino de Santiago in 2019 and again in 2020. Skied the Swiss Alps in 2021. Ran with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain in 2022. Camped with Scouts in South Korea in 2023.
Some of his biggest accomplishments in recent years were earning his BSA Silver Beaver Award, sponsoring a Ukrainian family, watching his daughter commission into the U.S. Coast Guard and his son earning his master’s degree from John Hopkins SIAS.
Ken was known for his generous heart, humor, and wisdom. His impact on the community will forever be remembered by his friends and family. Ken Feng will be greatly missed.
