I didn't meet Diane until late in her working life for the Federal Government. She had so many good qualities but the one that I admired the most was that all 4 of her sons were equally loved as if she had always been their mothers. No step children label was ever spoken. Later when Diane married Tom, she gained 2 adult daughters. Once again if you asked Diane how many children she had, she would proudly say 4 sons and 2 daughters. All were loved immensely and she enjoyed being with each one. Grandchildren, daughter in laws and son in laws joined the family and once again, there was enough love in Diane for all. I have many fun and humorous memories of evenings out, overnight trips, and many adventures with Diane. She lived life with happiness. She will be missed by her family and friends but the memories of her kind, honest personality will not be forgotten.

I met Diane in 2011when she was President of the Welcome Club My husband and I joined the Welcome Club Wine Tasting Group and Diane and Tom were members. Tom was just a friend at that time. We shared many wonderful outings with the Wine Group including attending Diane and Tom’s wedding at the Red Fox Inn in Middleburg. Whenever it was their turn, Diane insisted on preparing a gourmet meal for us with a selection of wines. Her favorite wine was Chardonnay. Not only is Diane a good cook, she had a flair for decorating and her houses could have been in a magazine. We were also aware of Diane’s work with the Women’s Center, a great organization that helps women in crisis. We will miss Diane. May she rest in peace

Diane served as President for the Welcome Club of Northern Virginia from 2012-2013. When recruited for this position, she protested that she wouldn't be a very good president, but in fact she did wonderfully. She was conscientious, diplomatic, organized, and an articulate writer for the monthly newsletter columns and frequent emails required in the position. She fulfilled these responsibilities faithfully during a year in which she worked at the Women's Center, cared for her mother during her final months, and planned her own wedding. We miss her and are very grateful for her friendship and her service.
