Cynthia and I shared so much together, family (ours boys are friends), business (we founded FAMILIES, Inc together), and political views (who will I call now to find the kindred spirit of shock at so much audacity!). She was such an honorable, elegant, beautiful, generous and loyal woman....and my very close friend. I spoke with her the week before she died and amazingly, we spoke of death. At that time she said she wasn't afraid of it and I hope everyone takes comfort in knowing she was at peace with the thought. That won't make the rest of us miss her any less. Kimberly and Andrew are dealing with a tremendous loss and my heart and love goes out to both of them. I'm here any time they want to talk about her. I loved Cynthia and the world feels different without her.

I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about Cynthias passing. I spoke with her a few times over the phone and in person she was a lovely lady. Andrew you are one of my greatest friends and I want you and your sister to know that you are in my prayers. If you need anything at all please don't hesitate to call. I won't be able to physically attend the service but you will be in my thoughts. Love Nycole

Kim, I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my Mother almost two years ago, and while I still miss her a great deal and know I always will, I have found much comfort in the memories I have of her. May the memories you have of your Mother bring you peace and strength. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. Take care of yourself.

Kim, I wanted you to know how sorry I am about your mother Cynthia. She was a great friend and someone you could really talk to, and we did for many hours. We worked together at AT&T for many years, she got me involved with her at Friends of Guest House in Alexandria, and even tried to get me to move out to her area when she retired from AT&T and started her new love - Real Estate. I will miss her terribly she was really a wonderful person and she touched so many people. I will keep you and Cynthia in my prayers.

Life is sometimes unexplainable, even sometimes harsh! But everything that happens is for a reason. I may not of had a chance to experience recent times as so many of you did. But I knew first hand of the great person she was, and even thro we had our differences during our 20-year marriage, she taught many a good lessons. We shared (2) two wonderful children, who I will love always regardless of the rocky road we experience. I say to my daughter, your mother is proud of you as I am. I will always love you!!!! And to my son, she loved you and saw things in you that you are seeing now! Be strong! I love you too! And for everyone, thank you for such wonderful condolences during a sorrowful time.

Kimberly and Andrew, your mother and I were co-workers at Long & Foster Realtors and, more importantly, she is my Sister in Christ. We shared many things over the years, including a joint business venture. Surprisingly, it was a website for exhibition basketball. Although it did not come to fruition, that bold venture was yet another demonstration of her vast array of interests and entrepreneurial spirit. We often spoke of world events, our love of the church, and many things both mundane and lofty. She loved her Pastor, Rev. Norman A Tate, her Church, Heritage Christian Fellowship and, above all, the Lord. Although I miss her very much and think of her ever day, we can rest assured. Her work is done, no more troubles of the world. She’s gone Home. My family and I will keep you in our prayers.

Kimberly, When I think of your Mom, all I can do is smile and think about the way she could touch and impact a life. How many people like her can we really say not only know but show the meaning of being there for others. I have so many stories to share about not just what she would say but what she would do, Of our time spent together, I will never forget the times she would come by when I was sick. She'd bring a meal and even if she could only stand for a minute in the doorway she would spend enough time making me laugh with some funny story. I loved our calls and conversations. Some people have ways with words but she could take one word with great emphasis, and start a sentence packed with meaning. With her rich voice she spread infectious laughter and joy, you could always hear her love for you when she talked about your wisdom and insights and how she felt about you. I know she is in the presence of God, but I too will miss her. No one knows what legacy or the extent of the legacy that they will leave behind. Hers will be a Godly one, an unselfish life that poured into others, and one who loved joyfully and unconditionally. I will miss my friend, Cydney Shields Ferrell

I'm not even sure where to begin. Cynthia was like a 2nd mother to me growing up. She was a wondeful woman who will be sadly missed but happily remembered. I will always remember her contagious laugh and that beautiful smile. To andrew and Kim, I wish I could be there for the service but my location and circumstances make it impossible. The two of you are in my thoughts and my prayers and I send my love to you. Please let me know if there sanything I can do to help you through these sad times. Cynthia was the best.

Aunt Cynthia, to me was a very special person. She was an ear to listen, advise to give or hugs and kisses through the phone. Aunt Cynthia is an aunt to me,and she is the Godmother of my first-born son, Jaden. I had the pleasure of knowing her for nine years, after i found my birth family. In my experience as her niece is a memorable one. My family and i thank God to have known her in her time with all of us.We send our love and comfort to her children. May you look to God in this time and always. Love:Lorri,Leo,Jessalyn,Jasmine, Jalene, Jaden, Jordyn , Josiah, and Joshua

Kim, you are in my thoughts during this difficult time. I was lucky enough to spend time with you and your mom together, and Cynthia impressed me with her strength, kindness, good humor, and intelligence. You have all of those same qualities. I know it must be hard right now, but try to be strong. I love you. Michael

Kimberly, there are no words which let me tell you how sorry I am for this loss. I lost my mother and know how you feel. My mother was also a New Yorker and Cynthia reminded me much of her. Those New Yorkers have a certain attitude that I always enjoyed. I never had an aunt, but if I did, I would have wanted her to be Cynthia. What I will remember most of Cynthia was her laugh. I always enjoyed our conversations and will greatly miss them. I feel blessed to have had the priveledge of knowing her. I do not think I cannot name of finner person. You remind me so much of her. You are in my thoughts and if you ever need anything, I will be there. John

Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel having heard of the passing of Cynthia. Andrew, I want you to know that I considered your mom a great teacher, role model and friend who impacted my life immensely when we were teenagers and young adults. While she will be sorely missed I will take great memories of her with me. Andrew and Kim, I am so sorry for your loss and you are both in my thoughts and prayers.

To Kim & Andy & all family members: no words will ever express the loss of my sister. We must use the example of her life to heal ourselves & others. Cynthia taught us to always forge ahead with kindness, forgiveness, determination, strength &, most importantly, with unlimited love. It is because of her that we can face life's obsticles &, if we can't climb over them, we get go through them or around them &, know that we will get to the other side intact. I thank all of you that have supported Kim & the family & even though there is a void there, I encourage you to fill that void with love for yourself, your fellowman & our precious GOD. Kim, I love you as does our Lord.

Kim and Andrew, I am very sorry for your loss. I worked with your Mom at AT&T and will always remember her. We stayed in contact because you just don’t want to let people like her get away from you. We had a blast getting Christmas gifts for the ladies at Guest House and their children. What an impression Cynthia made on everyone’s heart that came in contact with her. Cynthia’s grace, laughter and beauty will always remain in my heart. Love and prayers to you both.

My deepest sympathy to your family on the sudden loss of your mother--one who loved so many and so much. I recall the many times my aunt, Muriel Randall, spoke of Cynthia and her family. May God's grace and love give you peace. Kimberley, you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless You.
