Cynthia Monica Randall of Ashburn, VA, former resident of Yonkers and Greenburgh, NY, departed from this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. She was born in Yonkers, NY to the late Eugene Da Costa and Vivienne Archambeau on August 24, 1946. She was gently and lovingly raised by the Late John Randall and Muriel Randall. Cynthia graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers. In 1966 she began her career with A . T . & T. in White Plains, NY. During her career with A.T. & T. she obtained her BS in Business Administration and her Masters Degree in Public Policy at National-Louis University. In hopes of continuing the prosperity of her family, Cynthia moved to Northern Virginia in 1989 to continue working for AT & T, where she continued to singularly raise her 2 children, Kimberley and Andrew. In 1998, she retired with A. T. & T. as a Systems Analyst Manager in Oakton, Virginia after over 30 years of dedicated service. It was after her retirement, Cynthia began a new and very successful career in real estate with Long and Foster in Herndon, Virginia and in 2006 went on to be an entrepreneur; starting her own business by opening the Vocelli Pizza Franchise located in Gainsville, Virginia. Cynthia was a member of Heritage Fellowship Church where in 2003 she studied to become a Stephen s Minister and contributed to the Agape Program. Her tireless efforts also extended to serving her community as a C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for the Fairfax County court system. CASA's are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children. She was also a great friend to the homeless and poor by dedicating her time and contributions to SOME...So Others Might Eat, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. She extended herself additionally by being a board member of Friends of Guest House. It was founded to provide a temporary house for women charged with or convicted of a criminal offense who are in the need of basic human services to facilitate their new start in life and adjustments to the community at large. Guest House provides a place to live and a supportive environment for female ex-offenders. It is an organization that offers assistance to women who sincerely want to improve their lives when released from confinement and seek to break the cycle of incarceration. Cynthia loved to travel and was an avid reader. Two of her favorite places were the islands of Bermuda and Aruba. She was devoted and dedicated to her family and friends; always taking on the mentorship role whenever she felt it was needed. Cynthia enjoyed spending time with her cats, Margo and Darren, also humorously known as "Heavy D" due to his dog like size. She is the dear mother of Kimberley and Andrew Bush. Daughter of step-mother Muriel Randall, sister of brothers Jerrold Randall and John Randall Jr . and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Cynthia was predeceased by her brother, Michael Da Costa. Cynthia was the rock upon which we all stood. She perpetually put aside her own needs for the needs of others; profoundly resilient, ever-giving and possessing titan-like strength. She was always giving advice to her family and friends. Cynthia's faith helped uplift her through times of struggle, doubt and blindness. Through these times, Cynthia always...saw the potential success, the positivity and the light. There was no space of oblivion she would not dive into with courage and grace. And no unpaved mountain she would not scale with hope and vigor. She will be remembered as always loyal, dedicated and forgiving. She was a source of spiritual inspiration. Words cannot express our extraordinary sadness and deeply felt sorrow due to her absence. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14 th from 10am to 12 noon at Heritage Fellowship Church, 13515 Dulles Technology Drive, Herndon, VA, where funeral services will be held at 12 noon. Interment will immediately follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
